Guest razazteca Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Just got Survivor Series 93 from Blockbuster inventory sale, nice tape considering it cost me $3. In the 1st match I notice that several wrestlers are wearing bright pastle colors. Marty Jennety & Macho Man have color corrindated Rockers gear with bright pink, blue, yellow, black and Macho has fringe sleeves . While 123 Kid has pastle blue and Razor Ramon has electric yellow on. On the other team Rick Martel has the baby blues trunks with Adam Bomb in Hi-lighter yellow & black. So my question is was was the WWF still stuck in the 80s fashion wise or was this a acqurate image of the early 90s?
Guest dreamer420 Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 A lot of wrestlers wore those bright colors back in the day. Macho man was the absolute worst as some of his outfits were bordering on legally crazy.
Guest areacode212 Posted March 29, 2002 Report Posted March 29, 2002 I honestly don't remember if they were an accurate portrayal of general, early-90s fashion trends. But wrestling outfits are probably not the best barometer for judging that, anyway. You're better off renting some early-90s movies. I don't remember thinking that their outfits were anything out of the ordinary, though (except for Savage's fluorescent outfits w/cowboy hat). Survivor Series 93 is a good buy for $3. I wonder if all the Blockbusters are having sales like that. I'll have to check on the way home.
Guest Some Guy Posted March 29, 2002 Report Posted March 29, 2002 Remember all the mullets in WWF around that time? They were another reason to never patern your style of dress after a wrestler.
Guest dreamer420 Posted March 29, 2002 Report Posted March 29, 2002 But mullets and wrestling go together like peanut butter and jelly. Perfectly.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted March 29, 2002 Report Posted March 29, 2002 i mean think of it this way, if you see a guy dressed like jeff hardy in public youll think hes kinda ...you know but if you see jeff hardy on tv you think hes kinda well ...the same ok maybe thats a bad example
Guest Flyboy Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 i mean think of it this way, if you see a guy dressed like jeff hardy in public youll think hes kinda ...you know but if you see jeff hardy on tv you think hes kinda well ...the same ok maybe thats a bad example Hee-hee. That's very true.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 Wrestling fans and the wwf are generally about 4 years behind the rest of the planet. Mullets. ARGH. What really drove me insane throughout the 90's was when if a face got beaten up or married, people in the audience (not just children) would actually CRY. I remember this happening when Kane showed up in 199frickin7. Alarming how moronic those people are.
Guest RetroRob215 Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 I hate mullets. Worst mullet ever has to goto Bischoff in 1993. Judging by Married With Children, specifically Christina Applegate, bright colors were IN back in the mid-90's.
Guest The Great Wesuke Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 Yep... check out a show like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, also from the early ninties. I doubt Will Smith would wear neon-pink shorts with a florescent green nike shirt anymore. It was the style back then... trust me, I was in Jr. High while this was going on. I'm surprised no wrestler every debuted hypercolor wrestling gear.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 Good points about the TV shows from back in the early 90's. It was just a sign of the times I guess.
Guest The Great Wesuke Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 I think the wrestlers were into a lot harder drugs back then too. That might have something to do with it.
Guest Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 What about Hulk Hogan's Paul Heyman's and John Tenta's skullets? Do they reaaly miss their hair that bad?
Guest crandamaniac Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Speaking of the 80's and 90's WWF, what about the tassels that everybody wore? I remember one Wrestlemania where the Rockers wore nothing but them. *realizes his post sounds kinda gay* umm...ummm...:hits the 1st person he sees, then chops down a tree just because: ah, that's better
