Guest Karnage Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Does anyone think its a stupid idea for them to release a 2 disc edition first, and when it becomes OOP they release a crappy single disc version? The logical thing to do if they want to double dip is release a barebones first and then an SE, people aren't gonna buy the movie again if you release a barebones after the SE. Some of the movies they are doing this with are Fight Club, Moulin Rouge, Big Trouble in Little China and a couple of others.
Guest razazteca Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 If there was a big demand for the 2 Disc sets then it would never go OOP.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 But are they bare bonesing them, or just cutting them down to one DVD? DVDs have gotten greater storage capacity since a lot of those were issued. I love the original Fight Club packaging, but I don't think anyone's going to complain too much if it's all the same content.
Guest razazteca Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I think the Fight Club solo disc cut out the music video and the tv spots, its not a big loss.

The 2 disc sets aren't that old. Also there's still alot of double disc sets. So I doubt the single versions are a product of technology advancement.
Guest El Satanico Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 The reasoning behind this method is simple really. Single disc DVDs are cheaper to produce than Double Disc DVDs.
