Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Al Snow and Spike Dudley and RVD and the Dudleys aren't hardcore either.
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Well of course not. Look who they have to compete with: GOLDUST. Goldust is a true hardcore legend who's raising of the bar has far exceeded the limits of RVD.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 He won the belt 9 times! It's not like he hasn't been involved with it.
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 And WHO CAN RECALL EVEN 1 OF THOSE 9 VICTORIES? BTW, congrats on 5K. Sorry you had to waste it on this
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Who can recall any of Spike Dudleys Hardcore matches?
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 His association with the Dudleys automatically places him in the role. He also used to take giant bumps in every other match.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Spike is hardcore in the sense he taken constant bumps... Duds are Major New York Faces that were hardcore at one point and still uses tables... Snow was there because he is FOLEY'S best friend! That ever come to mind? RVD was the former champion...(the last one) Dreamer is the Innovator of Violence
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted June 25, 2003 But none of them have anything to do w/ ECW. No sir. I don't know why somebody would be in denial over something this trivial, but..........
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 ...Or they were all in ECW. How come the crowd got that but you guys can't?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Yes they were in ECW...but that wasn't the sole reason they were out there...
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Considering that NYC is the second biggest ECW city, next to philly, I'd say that was a _significant_ reason.
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 There is a very fine line between an "ECW" wrestler and a "hardcore" wrestler. The terms are basically one and the same in WWE. You're arguing that the only reason those guys were out there was because they were all ECW wrestlers. I'm arguing that the only reason those guys were out there was because they were all hardcore wrestlers. If it had anything to do with ECW it would be because ECW = hardcore. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Are there any other ECW mainstays on the Raw roster other than the ones who went out there for the tribute? Other than Lance Storm who is the anti-hardcore type, plus a heel.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted June 25, 2003 If you consider Stevie Richards and Jazz ECW mainstream, than yes.
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Richards, yes. Jazz, no. Both are heels so it's a moot point.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I know, but he didn't say specifically faces...I was just pointing out other ECWites.
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I was just pointing out the relevance of the info to the topic. You didn't do anything wrong.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 What I'm "arguing" is that it had something more to do with ECW than being "hardcore". The fans didn't chant "he's hardcore! he's hardcore!" and that I found it silly to include a ring full of ECW guys and not have _any_ ECW footage in the video presented. Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Like I said, if you come from ECW you're pretty much pegged as a hardcore wrestler in WWE. And there are no specific chants that the crowd uses to separate the two. Chanting "He's hardcore" wouldn't make a lick of sense in that situation, plus it's pretty much an ECW chant anyway. "ECW" chants are heard whenever 2 ECW guys are seen together. It just so happens that the WWE's group of "hardcore" guys are all ex-ECW wrestlers. Look at the Raw's hardcore wrestlers (Goldust & Booker not among them); they're all former ECW guys.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Because they own very limited ECW footage...I don't think WWE has completely got all the footage it owns just yet...
