Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Voting will be open until Sunday night at the least. If you haven't seen the results thread posted, keep voting. Clearly mark your selection for each match up. You may use any criteria in your voting, but mostly we are going with who are the better and more important characters to comics. Check the first round thread for nice summaries of all characters' credentials, as compiled by Goodear. (1) Joker (2) Green Goblin (8) Two-Face (2) Darkseid (1) Lex Luthor (3) Apocalypse (1) Magneto (6) Ra's Al Ghul

Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 If this board has any sense of comic book history, Lex should MURDER Magneto next round.
Guest JMA Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I see Joker and Luthor in the finals. That's my prediction.

Two-Face is a better villain: He's more tragic, more psychological, and his link with Bruce makes every great Two-Face story mean something. You can't really say that about Doom, because Fantastic Four has had more trouble getting good creative teams then Batman has. It was close, but if Doom was going to lose at least it was Two-Face and not Carnage or someone like that.

I haven't followed comics in about two years, so unless there's been a definitive Two-Face story that actually touches on Harvey Dent's 'deep physchological character' in that time, I'm not buying it. Two face maybe tragic, but Doom is a vastly superior VILLAIN. And far more important. What's Harvey done since his inception?

Two face maybe tragic, but Doom is a vastly superior VILLAIN. And far more important. What's Harvey done since his inception? "Faces" by Matt Wagner touched on Two-Face's warped ideals of fate, justice, and duality. I've never read a Doom story as gripping or moving as "Faces." Not to mention "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory" in which Harvey kills scores of gangsters and innocents before the finale AND his relationship with Gordon and Bats is fleshed out. Harvey's psychoses are also one of the highlights of "Arkham Asylum" one of the top 10 superhero stories EVER. Doom was always evil. Even before working with Reed Why? He just ... was/is. Harvey has more motivation, and that comes through. Oh, and this IS about who the better character is, not who's had better stories about them. Your logic is flawed Big.

Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 You're overlooking with Dr. Doom that everything he did was to save his mother's soul from hell. He did have this emotional edge and reason for his villainy. Check out "Triumph and Torment" for THE Dr. Doom story.

I've been reading comics A LONG FUCKING TIME, and this is the first I've ever heard of it. Now that I think about it... he was far cooler when he was just angry at Reed or puttin the moves on Sue.
