Guest Lethargic Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 Rodney Dangerfield and MGM are headed Back to School, signing a deal to revive the biggest hit in the hound-faced comedian's feature career. Dangerfield will be involved in the remake's development, with an exec producer or producer credit, and likely will do a cameo, though at 81 he won't reprise his starring role. MGM is now in discussions with writers on the project. The original grossed more than $91 million when it debuted in 1986. Dangerfield, who helped write the story, played a rich and obnoxious businessman who enrolls in college to encourage his son to go, as well. You know, the ONLY reason Back to School was good was because of Dangerfield. It's not like it had a very interesting plot or whatever. It was just a Dangerfield vehicle. I mean, nobody would remake Ladybugs right? Why in the world would you remake this??
Guest Zack Malibu Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 Oh man, poor Rodney. I know his movie career hasn't been much the last few years (have you SEEN My Five Wives...not good) but this is ridiculous. Please don't tell me it's going to be "urbanized" like the rumored Airplane remake with Method Man and the other rapper (either Snoop or Redman, forget which).
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 jesus christ :: waits for Breakfast Club remake with the stars of That 70's Show ::
Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 Please don't tell me it's going to be "urbanized" "Yo, dawg, I ain't gettn' no respect up in here!"
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 Bernie Mac in Dangerfield's role. I could see that.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 I think Verne hit it on the head. Bernie Mac would make the best choice at this time to reprise that type of role. And I love your Jerry Reed icon.
Guest razazteca Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 I want to see Jerry Stiller as the lead with Demi Moore as the prof love interest. Might as well put Aston Kutner in also or a Wayans family member.

Too many times, it's just assumed that no matter how shitty or mediocre a script Bernie Mac will be funny.
