Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 27, 2003 My grandma can make gravy that actually disintegrates the spine. After a plate of the stuff, you slump in your chair. No support, no nerve signals moving aside from the signal for a full tummy.

Guest Insanityman Report post Posted June 27, 2003 My grandmother, then my mommy. My grandmother can seriously make you eat so much you're going to die- but ooohhh you're enjoying every second of it. My mom's pretty good, my dad's alright, and my sister blows.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 (edited) My mother, because I have been craving her lasagna for ten years plus. Though my ex-fiancee #2 put a good 20 lb. on me through her cooking. Edited June 28, 2003 by Rendclaw

Guest papacita Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Both my parents are great cooks, but I'd have to say my dad's a bit better. He used to work in a restaurant plus he watches those cooking shows and starts getting all creative with seasoning and everything. I haven't had much of her cooking, but my sister-in-law's a damn good cook as well, as is my grandmother and one of my aunts...shoot with all these good cooks in my family I should really be fat. Guest starvenger Report post Posted June 29, 2003 I guess more grandma love from me. They always cook the best. Ain't that the truth. I think it has to do with them coming from the old school. Nowadays noone has the time to really go and COOK. But grandmothers will MAKE the time even if there is none apparent...
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 30, 2003 My Mom. A quick question. Has anyone ever ate at a restaurant of a famous chef?
Guest treble charged Report post Posted June 30, 2003 I'm going to go with my mom, based mostly on her desserts. She doesn't have a lot of time to cook 'proper' meals most of the time and I can understand that, but man can she bake. Her apple and pumpkin pies are great, but she only really does it around the holidays, unfortunately.

I saw a comedian say something pretty cute about Italian grandmothers once. After dinner, if you still want a LOT more, ask for a "little bit" when she offers you more food. If you just want a little bit, ask for "none." If you don't want any more at all..you're just going to have to shoot her.

It's crazy too, because I know I could never whip out some badass pie if I tried. but my grandma can pull a completely flawless pecan pie out of the oven, and angelic music plays, and a rainbow sprouts from the pie leading to the pearly gates of heaven, with god smiling fondly in approval. Now that's a good pie.
Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted June 30, 2003 My maternal grandma passed on her sicilian cooking skills (and tan :-) ) to me before she passed away in '99 my dad is also a good cook.
Guest stardust Report post Posted July 1, 2003 My mom and dad. They'll actually argue over the kitchen and who gets to cook that night. Then again, I think everyone in my family has something they cook exceptionally well. Dad, is GREAT with barbeque, whereas Mom makes awesome friend chicken. My brother can cook quite well, too. And I seem to be the baker of the family. *shrug* Oh, and my grandma makes AWESOME sweet tea.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Grandma, by far. Traditional old-school Italian Grandma, we eat at her house every Sunday still. Runners up are my Uncle and my cousins...my dad's side of the family (the aforementioned grandma is his mother as well) own several bakeries/restaurants in Rhode Island, so good cooking runs in the family.
