Fucking Twins are really pissing me off this year. They've underachieved at every aspect of the game. The defense hasn't been it's crisp usual self. The starters have been horrible. The effort isn't there all the time. One win and they act like they've won the World Series. Wednesday they come back and beat the Sox. Do they carry that momentum over, of course not. They hit like dogs and lose. Gardenhire was on them afterward. That should be good enough for 1 win, but Saturday they'll be back to their underachieving ways.

Know some of the players like Denny Hocking are saying most teams would be happy to be at .500. That's such a bullshit statment. You weren't supposed to be most teams. You were supposed to be a serious contender for the World Series. Act like it, and play like it.

Sorry for the long rant. It's just frustrating seeing a team that should be running away with the Division title, play so poorly. This is a team when they put it all together is capable of beating anyone (except the Yankees).

As a Sox fan, I have seen a lot of the Twins, and I think it's my duty to tell you this:

they suck.

Don't get me wrong, they don't suck as much as the Sox, or the Royals for that matter, but they don't look good at all this year. The're going to make the playoffs basically by default and unless they get hot in the second half, they will be absolutly destroyed by the Yankees. It will be so bad it will pass right through funny and come all the way back around to bad.

I actually have a question about this: did the Twins play over thier heads last year, or are they just half-assing it this year?

The closest teams to me I give a shit about are The Bears and The Cubs.

I'm entirely indifferent to the Colts.

Problems with the Twins.....

1. They've got 3 guys in their rotation with ERAs over 5. The trouble is that they've got the solution IN THEIR BULLPEN. Johan Santana, one of the best young pitchers in baseball. It's absolutely stupid to keep your best pitcher in middle relief, especially when your starters are ineffective.

2. Jacque Jones. He simply cannot hit left handed pitching. You have plently of corner outfielders in the system. Platoon him.

The Twins need to let some of their starters go. There's a couple guys in the minors just as good as Jacque Jones. Rivas and Guzman aren't getting the job done. Ideally, they should trade some of their depth in hitting to shore up the starting lineup.

There are three teams in the AL East that have a better record than the Twins.

Two teams in the Al West.

Three in the NL East.

Two teams tied with the Twins in the NL Central.

Two teams better and one team tied in the NL West.

Be glad your Twins are where they are.

Oh, coming from a Pittsburgh native, I could give a crap less what happens to my "home" teams -- why should I care about a team/players that have no connection to me and will leave town to the highest bidder? I'm not faulting them for it, but I'm just saying why I don't care...

They played over their heads last year. Interestingly, they became so accustomed to playing at that higher level that it became easier for them to do so. While they're not as good as they were last year, I don't think they're as bad as they've looked this year. There's no way Radke's the pitcher he's looked like this year, and the loss of Milton has had a big impact on their rotation. Like Al said, their answer is in the bullpen, but someone has to have the stones to make the change, and so far, Gardenhire hasn't.

It is funny in Philly right now. The Phillies have been underachieving this year at the plate. But with Pat Burrell being so fucking bad, the focus hasn't been on the team's struggles as much as you might think. Between booing the hell out of Burrell to distract the fans as well as having the mindset of "Well when Burrell gets going, the team is going to kick ass", there hasn't been much anger towards them as a team yet.

Off-topic: In the NL Central the Pirates and Brewers just got new stadiums a year or so ago -- glad to see these structures are making them competitive...

I'm a fellow Philly fan. The Phils struggles at the plate have been offset by they're dominance on the mound. 2nd in runs allowed behind the Dodgers, last I checked. I think the attitude is that Philly will start to hit eventually. The anger isn't there in part because their record is better than last year's.

Well I had to live through the A's in the mid-nineties, and finally it has paid off the past few years. However, they are a small market team, so if they don't win a World Championship within the next few years, all the great players on the team will be on the Yankees or the Braves. Your Welcome, Assholes.

Bah. It's not as if the A's weren't a premiere team in the late 80's early 90's . What about Royals fans? How do you think they feel?

Orioles, Captials and Redskins!

If it weren't for the Ravens I'd probably have quit watching sports altogether 2 years ago.

I've pretty much given up on hockey, cant even watch enough Caps games to get into it anymore.

I just did give up on the Redskins because they are in the endless cycle of buying up a ton of talent, sucking durring the season and then losing good players and starting the cycle over again.

I haven't given up on the O's mainly because baseball is still my favorite sport but it does pain me to see them finishing just barely better than the freaking D-Rays in the AL East.

Millwood is getting scary here though. I don't know if you watch Daily News Live, but Bill Conlin was talking about how pitchers don't usually have slumps like this. And when they do have a slump it usually ends up that the pitcher is on the DL sooner rather than later.

It is awesome though that they can stay in contention through a Millwood slump because it has to be killing Scott Boras.

Try being a fan of a team that just won the championship but still gets no respect. Michael F'N Jordan got a bigger reaction when he decided to leave the Wizards. All the press now is on La La Land with Kobe stating that he wants to leave the Lakers after this season.

What about the Spurs. Why do they feel like a transition champion?

Gee. I. Feel. So. Sorry. For. You.

Come to Philly. Try and get sympathy for noone giving props to your champs and you will get shot.

All the East Coast teams do well is sell shoes with all the street cred they get. I fear the Vet as it is the stadium that causes one too many injuries during football season. Your baseball team is doing well but will they do anything in the playoffs?

Florida.

The only teams that are here that I care about are the Lightning, Panthers, Marlins and Double-A's.

The Lightning are a pretty good team.

The Panthers are on an upswing.

The Marlins have some good players, like Mike Lowell.

The Double-A's have Rocco Baldelli, Victor Zambrano and 67 year old Al Martin.

Still not much to cheer about.

1. Agreed about Santana. Radke the pitcher frustrates me because he's effective on the road, and last years postseason just shows he's capable of pitching so much better than he does. He needs to be agressive on the mound, throw inside...maybe even hit some batters.

2. Jones isn't going to be platoned. What I'd like to see is Jones moved down in the order. Put Kielty or someone who gets on Base first.

3. The minors besides Cuddyer, and Mauer aren't that deep. Morneau is up already and his showing some signs he's a future star.

Personally. I don't think that the Twins played over their heads last year. They won 19 games in May. They beat the A's 3 out 5, and Red Sox 4 out 6, and Mariners 2 out 3 on the road. Before being swept at home. They might not have the best pitching, or hitting, but they shouldn't be bad at either one.

Marlins in '97. Buccanneers last year. Quit bitching. Philly hasn't won a damn thing in any sport since 1983.

You do however have the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers, even if you aren't a football fan (Hell, I have the Stanley Cup champs and NBA east champs but I don't care about them, I'm a die-hard Yankees fan, I like the Giants in football, and I loosely follow the Oakland A's)

I'd give anything to have one of the teams that I care about win a title. But, football is HUGE down here, so every Sunday, god help you if you don't like football.

Well, when I first started watching hockey, the Wings were in the toilet (1976ish) and I still followed them and went to games when I could scam my dad into taking me. It kinda made when they became an NHL power even better after sitting through years of bottom feeding.

Nobdoy else in Detroit did I have a serious interest in. I kept up with them to a degree but that was about it.
