(Circa April 1990) Besides the rumoured "No Holds Barred II," there is talk of Hogan doing some bit parts in other films.

Thank god their wasn't any truth to the rumor of No Holds Barred II, what the hell would the plot be anyway?

What an awesome read that was!!! It definately is weird for me to read about stuff "on the inside" when I was a 10 year old mark.

Jim Herd was hosting a press conference at CNN Center and said he was trying to negotiate the rights to use names of famous movie characters that Ted Turner owns and introduce them as wrestling characters.  An example he gave was that if they could find a 6'5 275-pound man with one leg, they could bring him in as Long John Silver.

Two weeks later...

There is a method to Jim Herd's madness about bringing in Long John Silver that nobody seems to realize. He's the perfect contender for Ric Flair's title, you see, because Long John would be immune to the effects of the figure-four leglock.

A few more weeks later...

NWA will open negotiations with Scotty the Body Levy, Kevin & Kerry Von Erich, and Owen Hart in upcoming weeks. I can understand taking the chance on Kerry but see no reason whatsoever to hire Kevin. Actually, Kerry would make a great Long John Silver.

I always thought the story of Herd trying to create a tag team of hunchbacks who couldn't be pinned because of their humps was funny, but this is GOLD. Hahaha.

What stays with me the most of everything posted here is how beyond awesome WCW would have been with all of the WWF workhorses in tow. Had they also managed to keep the Great Muta happy and work out the contract negotiations with Steamboat and Tully been clean, you could have conceivably had Flair, Bret, Owen, DiBiase, Hennig, Savage, Sting, Arn & Tully, the Midnights, the Rockers, Pat Tanaka (underrated and forgotten), the Rock & Roll Express, the Steiners, Brian Pillman and Barry Windham under the same banner.

I'm having palpitations just thinking about it.
