Half-Life...best mod?

So I was thinking about picking up Half-Life for my PC. Then I was going to get one of the mods.

I know that everyone will say "GET COUNTER STRIKE!" since it's the best(2 of my friends play it and seem to have there asses glued there for hours when playing it)

So I was wondering....aside from CS what is another good Half-Life mod? I know there's like millions of them....

Team Fortress ain't bad either, at least I don't recall it being bad, it's been a while since I played it.

http://www.natural-selection.org/ is what you need. Think of it with as a first-person StarCraft and you sort of get the idea. The Humans even have a commander player who views the world like a WarCraft/StarCraft style game and drops in powerups and stuff for the shooter players.

 

This game requires some SERIOUS teamwork though. It's the one mod where listening to the people talking with the microphones is damn near necessary, as the best teams are conducted and moved around through voice chat.

You're kinda 5 years too late. Half Life 2 is right around the corner (September 30th) so you might as well save your money and pick that one up instead, as I'm sure there will be a bunch of mods released shortly thereafter.

CS has gone to hell.

 

Two mod's that I love are Day of Defeat and The Specialists, although I haven't played the latter much lately, it has features that make it so much better than CS and that require more skills than most of the 13 year olds in CD have.

 

So yeah 'n stuff.
