Guest DawnBTVS Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Okay, my problem is this warning thing that pops up. I'll go say www.fanfiction.net and go to a section and click on a fic right? I'll press the back button and this message pops up saying something like "Bad URL Plug-In" or whatever, basically the page can't be displayed thing as a pop up, and it keeps popping up. I can't get rid of them because I X one out, another immediately takes it's spot. I can't close the IE window because the thing continues to pop up thus the number of them grow. I am curious if this has happened to anybody else? Is there some way to stop this from occurring? It's greatly annoying to have to shut down my computer and turn it back on because of this message that repeatedly pops up.
Guest Eagan469 Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 welcome to pop-up hell If I'm using IE and that happens I usually just press alt-ctl-delete and terminate Explorer. That'll refresh your desktop and close everything that's running.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 But see, it's not a normal pop-up like "Click for $1,000" or anything. It's a pop up of the page that you normally get when it says "This page cannot be displayed".
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 It sounds like a plugin, likely one that has no purpose other then to show you ads, had a bad install. You can try getting rid of it with Spybot Search and Destroy ( http://security.kolla.de/news.php?lang=en ). Or get Mozilla, which has a lot fewer problems like this compared to Internet Explorer. http://www.mozilla.org/
