At the beginning of the show, Paul Heyman comes out and announces that the Hardcore title has been vacated, and will be determined by an 8 man tournament on this show.  The first round matches will be tonight.

 

All matches are no DQ and no counout.  The title matches are always Falls Count Anywhere.

OPENING MATCH

The Sandman vs. Stevie Richards

 

Stevie has his hair grown out long again, and is apparently Raven's lackey once more.  The fans really dig Sandman's entrance, with the Metallica music and beer drinking.  No cigarettes, however.  Pretty one sided match for the first few minutes, with the Sandman dominating.  Stevie then hits a Stevie Kick out of nowhere for two.  He follows up with a DDT for two.  He goes to the top rope, but Sandman crotches him.  He NAILS Stevie across the face with the cane, and hits a top rope hurricanrana for the win at 5:59.

WINNER: THE SANDMAN

 

Sabu vs Buh Buh Ray Dudley

Sabu brings out manager Bill Alfonso with him, who proceeds to annoy the piss out of the crowd with his whistle.  The fans don't know much about Sabu apparently, so they cheer for Buh Buh.  The crowd wants tables.  Buh Buh beats the h*ll out of Sabu for the first couple of minutes before Alfonso tries to trip Buh Buh coming off the ropes.  Buh Buh goes to grab Alfonso and pulls him up on the apron.  But Sabu attacks Buh Buh from behind before he can do anything to the annoying manager.  Air Sabu in the corner followed by a triple jump moonsault gets two.  Top rope Arabian Facebuster misses.  Buh Buh with a powerbomb for two.  Spinebuster on a chair for two.  The crowd is chanting for tables, and Buh Buh is all for it.  He sets up a table on the outside of the ring, and one on the inside.  Huge powerbomb through the table... and it only gets two.  Crowd is shocked.  Sabu is apparently out of it though as Buh Buh picks him up like dead weight.  Low blow out of nowhere from Alfonso and Sabu dropkicks Buh Buh in the face.  Arabian facebuster hits this time.  He rolls Buh Buh outside of the ring and puts him on the table set up out there.  Moonsault from the top turnbuckle through the table.  That gets a holy sh*t chant from the crowd.  Sabu gets up, rolls Buh Buh back in, and gets the win at 7:13.  Standing ovation for Sabu.  Sabu leaves the ring, but of course Alfonso stays in to harrass the injured Buh Buh.  But Buh Buh Ray gets up and hits the Bubba Cutter on Alfonso before leaving the ring, pleasing the fans.

 

Tommy Dreamer vs. Justin Credible

Justin attacks with the cane before the bell.  He bloodies Tommy early and is relentless. Within two minutes of the match starting, he goes for That's Incredible (tombstone piledriver) on a chair, but Tommy reverses it and hits a tombstone of his own for two.  Tommy has the cane now and lacerates Justin's forehead.  Justin escapes a Death Valley Driver and hits a DDT for two.  He sets up for a huge caneshot on Tommy, but Tommy ducks and hits a DDT for two.  Piledriver finishes for Tommy within seconds after that at 4:59.

 

Raven vs. Balls Mahoney

Some old ECW fans must have been in the arena, because they chanted "Balls" every time Mahoney hit a punch.  This match was pretty brutal.  Balls hit several stiff chairshots, but in the end, Raven won with an Evenflow DDT on the chair at a short 3:44.
