Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted March 29, 2002 Does anyone else find this idea of the "Undisputed" Title being looked at like a world title a joke? IMO A world title is defended against people from any promotion. Before anyone says it, the roster split won't make it any more of a world title, because it's still only deffended in WWF. Same thing if it's defended in OVW or HWA since the WWF owns them too. The last title that was anywhere close to a world title was the ECW world and tag team titles from 1997-99. They were defended in ECW, FMW, and in Onita pro a couple times. The last REAL world title was the AWA title in 1988 after Lawler won it because he'd defend it in AWA, WWA, WCCW, CWF, CWA, Central States, and pretty much anywhere else. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 29, 2002 I assume you're talking about the WWF doing that. I don't see a problem with it as the WWF calls it the "Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Championship". I think wrestlers are slipping up calling it a "World Title". I've never seen the WWF call their belt a "World Title" except Ric Flair's 1991 run calling his belt "The Real World's Title".
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted March 29, 2002 Tony is the right, the WWF never really had a World Title, but they did have a WWF Title, and now the Undisputed WWF Title.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted March 30, 2002 The thing I don't like about the Undisputed World Title thing is that the champion has two belts, they should just have one World Title Belt, anyone else agree? Thanks.
Guest X-Factor Corperation Report post Posted March 30, 2002 Tony is the right, the WWF never really had a World Title, but they did have a WWF Title, and now the Undisputed WWF Title. Unless you count the Rock's world championship. (laughs) Yeah. The WWA's is closer to a world championship since they defend it all over the world.
Guest MiloMahoney Report post Posted March 30, 2002 Wich belt to get rid of? I think they are going to split the belts up to go with teh two promotions. But yeah one NEW belt would look much cooler.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted March 30, 2002 The appearence of the WCW title still has meaning to some people so that belt can't just be tossed in Vince's closet so he can strut around his house wearing it and cutting crazy promos. The WWF title looked better when they used they intoduced at Wrestlemania 4.
Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted March 30, 2002 The WWF title has been defended in Europe and Japan recently. That's pretty good when you consider 95% of business is based in the U.S. What other World titles are defended regularly throughout the World? The NWA? Nobody cares about that title anymore, since it's credibility has been all but destroyed. I think the WWF have a strong case.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted March 30, 2002 It doesn't really matter WHERE they defend it. It matters who they defend it against. Until the WWF allows there champion to defend the title against the best European and Asian wrestlers in the world (as they have in the 80's), their championship isn't a World Championship. Guest Drury37 Report post Posted March 30, 2002 I don't know why Vince doesen't have people from all over the world in the WWF,I mean imagine how great the action would be and imagine how high the ratings would be if he did that. Thanks.

Considering that the wwf has 90 % of the talent (laughs) then if they had the WWF title defended against other people they're'd be less opertunitys for their own talent. Guest Inferno42058 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I agree that the WWF should only have 1 World Title belt. But I really hate the look of the WCW belt. I don't know, maybe it's because it's so obvious that a belt THAT big can't possibly be made out of solid gold. I really liked the look of the (WWF) belt pre-attitude. BEST BELT EVER. Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 31, 2002 The WWF did call their title the "world title" until Gorrilla and Ventura stopped doing commentary. They often refered to Hogan as the "world champion Hulk Hogan" then Vince decided that WWF was bigger than the world or something. I currently question why they call it "the undisputed WWF championship" Every other champ outside of Hogan's 4th run and Andre's win were "undisputed champions" because they won the title cleanly, Savage and Flair were even refered to as "the undisputed WWF cahmpion" during their 1st runs because they won the belt after the only 2 times were the championship was disputed. The "unified world chapion" would be a more appropriate term to call the title holder IMO, because the champ holds 2 titles which have been unified into one. However the WCW title is a joke because the real WCW no longer exists, if Turner owned WCW was still around and their world champ wrestled WWF's champ then the winner would be a legitimate "unified world champion, as it is one of those titles no longer has a company to back it as a real world title. Furthermore the WWF title is a "World title" because it is defended around the world (America, Canada, Europe, an recently Japan) and it is the top title of the largest promotion in the world. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I may be wrong, but wasn't Flair's "Big Gold Belt" made out of gold? After Flair sold it back to WCW the belt started looking bad. WCW never took care of it's belts. The one that's being used now is a replica.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 31, 2002 Yeah if it cost $10,000 it was probably gold. I think Booker or Jarrett were the last to hold the original with the brown leather and damaged plates in 2000 after the Hogan BATB thing were he got the new belt which Jarrett had been using. I guess we can add another thing to the list of things WWF did better than WCW, they shined and replaced damaged belts more often.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I heard the belt was $40,000. Don't know if that's true. The WWF does take care most of their belts. WCW had lots of belts that were falling apart ie. the original WCW tag titles ('91-'98), the Cruiserweight title (Which the gold rusted away). Booker T was the last two guys to hold that belt. WCW started using the replica around May 2000.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I remeber reading that WWF quickly replaced the new blue title given to Austin quickly after he broke a little piece off the side of the main plate. WCW continues to use the Big Gold Belt after the top of the main plate was bent down and one on the side plates was nearly falling off, which was a good metaphor for WCW at the time, it's world title fell apart at the same time as the company. Guest Drury37 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 Man imagine breaking part of the WWF Title I would feel like such a jerk, that would be like dropping the NBA Title or something, dropping the "Big Gold Belt" would be like dropping the Stanley Cup,well sort of. Thanks.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I remember the blue WWF Title. Austin got it the night after WM XIV (14). It lasted a few months then Austin started carrying the "Smoking Skull Belt". Flair or somebody took care of "The Big Gold Belt" really well when he (Flair) owned the belt.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I just remembered where I read about replacing the belt, it was on the website of the guy who actually makes the new belts, Jmar.com I think. He had a picture of the broken blue belt, which was replaced by the smoking skull belt and then buy the balck belt with the Attitude logo on it for the Rock. I think thats why the night Austin drove the Zambone (sp?) to the ring during the Taker/Kane/Vince segment to decide who was really champ they had the old title (Savage - HBK) in the display case, because the blue belt was broken and the new belt hadn't been made. Guest Drury37 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 Oh wow I never even thought about that and of course nobody mentions that, because it's Vince McMahon and anything that goes wrong with him nobody mentions. Thanks.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 Anybody notice the slight change in the current WWF Title? When The Rock got it at Survivor Series '98 the main part on the front was gold. Now the main part is silver looking.
Guest Report post Posted April 2, 2002 that belt can't just be tossed in Vince's closet so he can strut around his house wearing it and cutting crazy promos. Here's the official rating for that line: ***** Maybe it's just me but I can't help inserting the word naked when I read that. ???
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 2, 2002 That's how I pictured it too. EWWW!!! It would be funny because McMahon would be doing the Flair strut, waggling his fingers like Scott Hall and playing Hogan's air guitar.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 3, 2002 Too funny, too too funny, and he is doing that annoying voice, I am Mr.McMahon and I have my grape fruits and going on and on and then he grabs himself and screams I CREATED AN EMPIRE!!!HAHA!!! Thanks.
Guest Report post Posted April 3, 2002 Yeah now that I think about it, "Undisputed WWF Champion" is kind of lame considering the circumstances.. Personally I liked the WWF belt from 1988-1998, right until Austin won it, the best... The IC title, too...I miss the classic belt that men like Bret Hart, HBK, Razor Ramon, Savage, Hennig, Warrior, etc used to wear... I think the newer design absolutely sucks... Anyone else agree? Yeah the WWF did indeed call it's title the World Title until a few years ago, when they stopped recognizing the rest of the world, per se. I can even remember back to the 80's when it was still known as the WWF World Heavyweight Champion, then shortened to WWF World Champion, and finally to just The World Wrestling Federation Champion...Thats how I always remember Bret Hart, HBK, Diesel (yuck), etc being announced as anyways... Well so ends another rambling post from yours truly --Joe Marotta The Black Sheep
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 3, 2002 Finally they have one Undisputed World Title,it was dumb to have two belts, plus I like the look of the new belt. Thanks.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted April 3, 2002 I agree. The old IC Title was awesome. The new one looks like a toy. At least there's now one "Undisputed WWF Title". Although I will miss the "Big Gold Belt". The original "Big Gold Belt" was a classic.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I best looking belt in the WWF is the Europeon title and that is a pretty sad statement, considering it is the WWF. The Attitude era killed the look of the great title belt.
