With shooting now officially underway for Star Wars Episode III, a lot of rumors are hitting the 'net.

First of all, Kenny Baker has once again been cast as R2-D2, but it appears that R2 may be completely computer generated in Ep. III with Baker providing the voice.

Anakin Skywalker now apparently has a ver 70s like hairstyle to add more continuity in terms of how the movie looks on the screen with Star Wars Episode IV.

And finally, it appears that the new film will have a lot of Wookies.

frankly I'm shocked that they'd think of giving Anakin a 70's hairstyle for continuity's sake, given the fact that aside from the prequil jokes and the forshadowing to major plot stuff, they haven't paid tons as much attention to it as they should

I thought Han had saved Chewbacca's life at some point and that's why he is so loyal to Han. I bet they forget that.

(Note: Most (if not all) of the information below would be from secondary sources (expanded universe), so don't be surprised of Lucas invalidates some or all of it...)

A.C. Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy had Han as having a Wookie as a mother figure (which helps to explain his proficiency in Wookie) and a hatred of slavery, which led to his rescuing a bunch of Wookies and Chewbacca declaring a life debt to Han.

Also the EU pegs Han at about 10 years older than the twins, so if the status quo is maintained it's likely that the Han/Chewie meeting won't occur during the movie.

---

I've also heard rumours about Peter Mayhew being in the film, but as he's making an appearance at a 'con in Dallas the weekend after this one who knows? I guess I should ask...

Link is here.

...actually it looks like Kenny Baker will be there as well. And speaking of Mr. Baker...

Um, providing the voice? ohhhkay. Anyways, I met Kenny Baker in Detroit, and while he seems like he could still work inside of Artoo, this is probably a way to make things easier for him as he ain't exactly a young'un.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Word on the streets is that in Episode Three it's Chewbacca that saves young Luke and Leia and takes them to Yoda, who in turn decides that they should be seperated and sends Leia to live with Bail Organa and Luke to live w/ Uncle Owen. Take it with a grain of salt, I read it on Aint It Cool News a while back."

Are they mixing up C-3PO with R2 here? Does Artoo even have a voice outside of a few bleeps and boops here and there?

Just to fill in a bit of starvenger's post, Han was a junior officer on his first tour of duty in the Imperial Navy and stopped his commanding officer who was going to shoot Chewbacca after he tried to make a break from a slave detail. He got drummed out of the Navy, lost everything, and eventually became a smuggler for Jabba.

I'm such a dork.

Frankly I have not heard anything about these rumors and I am an active member of the StarWars.com forums and they post all of the spoilers in the spoiler folder. I have yet to read these....I'm not disproving them, but just offering that they might not be all that valid. If you want to find me on the forums, I am Darth Brackish. :-D

I can't believe only one person has noticed that they've confused R2-D2 with C3PO. Pretty average spoilers if they're making a mistake like that.

Star Wars Insider confirms that Peter Mayhew will reprise his role as Chewie in Ep. 3 (pg. 10 for those w/ the magazine).

If Chewie saves the Skywalker kids, it's a harsh twist a fate that Anakin Solo had to watch Chewie die in the Expanded Universe.

There is something that Wizard said way back in 97 (not sure?) about the kids...

OK, Ben wants to save the childrens Skywalker and hide them from the Evil Empire...

The why let Aunt Beru and the other guy to keep the last name ?

I mean, lets play Devil's advocate.. Im with the empire.. Hey look some sources say there is a kid in Alderaan (sorry my SW planet / locations are a little rusted) and hey mr. Evil Boss, his name is Skywalker. Like the one our high lord of the sith Vader said we should look.
