Guest NoCalMike Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Ok, there have only been 3 episodes so far, but I'd have to say this is the funniest show I have seen in quite some time. If you aren't aware of it, it comes on Comedy Central. New episodes air on tuesday nights with reruns throughout the week. The format is just some guy who is a huge Gary Busey fan who wants to hang out with him and have Busey teach him "life lessons" It is hard to tell if Busey is really that looney or if he is just playing up to the camera, but quite frankly, I DON'T GIVE A SHIT, because Gary Busey is hilarious. So anyone out there watch this yet?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Watched a little bit of it. Doesn't look like a "reality" show really. It's a work.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 There was a thread awhile back on this show. As I said then, Busey is trying way too hard to be weird and it obviously comes off as a work like YNA says. I missed this past week's show, but the first two were amusing if not a little rambling.
Guest two_tuff_toddy Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 It may be a work but it's still funny as shit. I have only gotten to see the 1st episode so far but it was fucking great.
Guest El Satanico Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Personally I think it's alittle of both. I believe he is looney to a degree, but is also playing it up. He's too fucking crazy to be totally faking it.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Satanico has his hand on the pulse of this show. Busey knows there's a camera right fucking there and is playing it up for all it's worth. It's just like most of these "reality" tv shows. They aren't that real. The only way to have a true reality show is to Truman show it where the people being filmed don't know they are being filmed. When people have a camera in front of them, you might see the real them to a point, but that person knows there's a camera there and so they might react to a situation based on the camera being there and not how they'd act if it were just them standing there doing whatever it is they are doing and dealing with it. Bottom line: "reality" tv isn't very real, but "I'm with Busey" is funny as shit, worked or not.
Guest kingkamala Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 I don't care if it's worked or not (Which I think it falls somewhere in between). It's still one of the funniest shows I've seen in a while.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 I saw the show where Busey was banging on some drum -- it did nothing for me. But if it attracts and holds an audience, more power to Comedy Central...
Guest bababooey Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 I don't care if it's worked or not (Which I think it falls somewhere in between). It's still one of the funniest shows I've seen in a while. I agree the fact that busey is messed up is great but the fact that the dude he is with is such a herbb makes it even better
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 It just seems like it's being weird for the sake of being weird........like Tom Green. But also also like Green,it does have it's funny moments.
