The Brawler has been rumored to of had relations with Patterson in hopes for a push (WrestleMania V maybe?) and many people think that is the only reason the Brawler is still with the WWF today.

According to Missy Hyatt's shoot interview (and take THAT source for what you will):

 

-Rick Martel is gay  (Some question came up about his partner in the Can-Am Connection, Tom Zenk, and she went quite a bit out of her way to say "No, RICK was the gay one.")

 

-Mike "Soul Train" Jones (Virgil/Vincent) got his job in the WWF because he's got a huge tool and let an unnamed WWF official service him

 

-Tom Zenk isn't gay and neither was Brian Pillman (There's apparently some story about a three-way between the two of them and Terri Boatright/Runnels that got twisted into Zenk and Pillman doing each other by the time New Jack said it at an ECW show.

 

 

If you want the dirt on many of the wrestlers in the past 20 years, I highly recommend Missy's shoot because she is VERY candid about certain people's habits, be they sexual, drug-related, etc.  (She went off on a tangent about Jake the Snake being the MacGuyver of crack at one point because he could make a pipe out of anything, and was quick to throw around accusations of certain people being gay or complements on the size of a person's package)

 

 

 

As for other sources, it's been implied by MANY on the shoot interviews that the Brooklyn Brawler is still around because he's Pat Patterson's bitch.  According to Tony Atlas, Rocky Johnson (The Rock's dad) supposedly made cracks about it to Brawler's face shortly before Wrestlemania 13.  (It should be noted that Atlas HATES  his ex-partner Johnson, though, so the story may be slightly twisted or blown completely out of proportion)

Mel Phillips was a black WWF television personality for quite sometime.  He had a role as a ring attendent and was beaten by Terry Funk in Terry's WWF debut in 1985 for putting on Terry's cowboy hat while taking his ring jacket.  This was a worked angle but was made to look like a shoot to get Terry over a heel.  Phillips would later be the ring announcer on WWF Wrestling Challenge or any television show which The Fink didn't have that gig.

 

During the WWF steroid scandal, a sex scandal also surfaced where Barry Orton appeared on the Larry King Show and made allegations that Terry Garvin, then a WWF road agent, had demanded sexual relations from Barry in return for a push.  Following this, several former WWF employees, mostly crew, made similar allegations toward Garvin, Pat Patterson and Mel Phillips, all known homosexuals.  Terry Garvin and Pat Patterson's sexuality was often a joke in WWF commentary between Gorilla Monsoon, Jesse Ventura and/or Bobby Heenan.

 

Pat Patterson was recognized as the master of the go behind.  During Steve Lombardi/Brooklyn Brawler matches jokes would be made that Lombardi was a "graduate of the Pat Patterson school of wrestling".  They would throw in digs about Terry Garvin too and it must have just been seen by the WWF as inside humor that the general public wouldn't get.

 

The sex scandal made episodes of Donahue, Geraldo and again Larry King where I think Vince appeared one on one with Bruno Sammartino who stated that it was known by the WWF that Mel Phillips was a child sex offender who had molested younger fans outside of WWF venues.

 

Garvin, Patterson and Phillips were let go by the WWF to save face.  Garvin would pass away, I'm not sure what became of Phillips and Patterson would be rehired by the WWF for his match booking genius.

 

Tom Zenk was in the WWF as Rick Martel's tag team partner in the Can Am Connection.  They were receiving a push as one of the WWF's premiere tag teams before it was suddenly announced that Zenk had abandoned Martel and Tito Santana replaced him as Rick's partner in Strike Force.

In the Observer review of the WM match it was mentioned that he's lost too much weight and he said that he had a problem that was being ignored and something had to be done. Other stuff is that he has lifestyle issues, oversleeps, that his lifestyle is out of control and just stuff that hints that he's got a problem. As they don't say that he's drinking which they normally do like with Crash and the weight loss which I can't say I've noticed on top of the sleeping I've interpretated that as a drug problem. It wasn't because of No gay crap that Tom Zenk left the WWF. Zenk and others have said that Zenk found out that Rick Martel was getting paid more so he got into an argument with Management and quit.

Son of Sting, the story goes that a few years back a well known WCW wrestler came to WWF.  As a part of his "initiation", Bradshaw and others supposedly commandeered him in the shower, held him down, and threatened to rape him.  Said wrestler broke into tears, begging Bradshaw's rape gang from going through with it.  Then and only then did Bradshaw and his rape gang stop.
