LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 So I was in work today and going through shipment. I was processing all the new sell-thru DVDs when I come across one. It was the 2-Disc Special Edition of "The Doors". I had heard great things about this movie and seen some parts on TV which made it interesting. I scanned it to see the price so I could sticker it. It came up for $9.99. I scanned it again. Same thing. It's list price was $35, but we wanted $9.99, plus I get a 20% discount. I figured for a movie that's supposed to be really good in a two disc special edition, $7.99 brand new was a really good price. So I picked it up. Was this a good deal? Is there a better version coming out? What is everyone's opinion on this pick up and movie in general?

Some people didnt like the movie because... Spoiler (Highlight to Read): probably they think Morrison is not showcased as a hero, it has flaws. And well, it has some not-for-kids shots too.
Guest godthedog Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 i hate that movie. it's poorly written, with cardboard characters (especially jim morrison, who really just comes across as a pretentious dickhead stoner with no real redeeming qualities at all). the dialogue is overblown and implausible as fuck, and no scene or character is compelling in the least. oliver stone was also apparently trying to get some kind of effect with the camera work that simulates being drunk or on drugs, tilting the camera and moving it all over the place and using bright colors and shit, but the visual style falls completely flat on its face. it's distracting, it's retarded and it made me want dramamine. i really can't stress enough how much i think this movie sucks.
Guest Lethargic Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 Reverse godthedog's opinion and you get mine. I love that movie. Val Kilmer is the friggin man as always. The DVD's price has fallen lately but there's no new disc coming out. It's just getting a little old.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 I heard Ray (The keyboard player) in an interview where he said he didn't like the movie cause no one had any fun in it. Said for all the bullshit they went through they mostly had a good time, and that wasn't in the movie.
