Guest MD2020 Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 Hello. I'm pretty much computer illiterate, so I was hoping you guys could help me out. It's really a minor thing, but it's bugging me so if you can be of assistance, I'd appreciate it. Basically, I'm having trouble playing .wmv files. Whenever I download one, the audio goes pretty well, but the video sucks. It'll freeze for large periods of time, then jump ahead to the audio for a second or two, and then freeze again. As you can guess, it gets pretty annoying. I do not seem to have this problem with .mpg files. They work pretty well. So, do you guys have any idea what could be causing this? Perhaps I need an upgrade or something? Like I said, I'm pretty bad when it comes to computers, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
Guest MrRant Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 These are downloaded to your computer right? Try updating to Media Player 9 from microsoft.com. Of course it could be the quality is shit....
Guest Razor Roman Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 WMV files are more like Real Video files then they are MPGs. They seem to be more heavily compressed, so if you have a slow computer, slow hard drive, not much memory and/or run a lot of programs they may not run well. They are usually told to concentrate on making the audio listenable before making the video framerate high. Try making sure that you are not zooming the video clip at all (view it at 100%) that will cut down on the CPU power you will be needing.
