A Bronx Tale

Recommended Posts

Guest HBK16

I just finished the movie. I ihear of it but never thought of seeing it. Me and my friends were out and it came up. They all thought it was great so I went out and bought it a few hours ago. I watched it and thought it was a great movie. I have a thing for gangster movies but that one was one of the best ones.

I live a few blocks away from where they filmed it. Every time I pass the church (I forget the name right now) my dad says "Thats where they filmed Bronx Tale."

Yep, and my acting coach was an extra in it. He likes to brag about it. Loser.

I watched this movie a couple of weeks back. I liked it. The only problem I had it with it was how they didn't focus that much on De Niro and the Sonny character, but the rest was good.

I had this movie ruined for me. I had it recommended to me by several friends saying it was "on par" with Goodfellas and the Godfather. It's no where near those movies.

It's a good movie, but not great. I had my expectation radar up real high though.

Wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. Seemed a little cheesy at times.

I thought it was OK -- my better half bought the DVD. I use the lesson taught in this film and apply it to my life (about the guy who owes the character money and flees from him all the time -- the gangster then tells the main character that for $10 he rid himself of that pest)...

Guest What?

I prefer Mean Streets, but Bronx Tale is still a rather geat flick.

and speaking of De Niro, which film would you say is better? Raging Bull or Cape Fear?

I though the movie was pretty good.

And Deniro in Cape Fear is pretty damn gold.

What about between Taxi Driver and Deer Hunter? I would go with Taxi Driver.

Taxi Driver is one of - if not the SINGLE - best movies I have ever seen. De Niro is everyone's god.

Deer Hunter, I felt, was too slow in the beginning, but then it picked up. The first hour was just them tooling about town and preparing for the wedding. That just didn't get me all interested.

At sometime in my life, I will recreate that "Now you can't leave..." scene. I don't know where, I don't know when...but I will.

It was a good movie. I even took De Niro's character advice when he told that kid about open a car door for ladies, and how you can tell how a girl is if she in that suitation.

I love how Palminteri delivers that line:

"I show you respect, I give you a chance to leave and this is how you repay me? .... Now, you can't leave"

I'm telling ya, it might be in a McDonalds and a bunch of little pricks will be making asses of themselves.

It might be Olive Garden and some table just won't shut the hell up.

It might be Benigans and Butters is going crazy over the burgers.

But one day...one day...

Nurse: Time for you sponge bath Mr. Ripper.

Ripper: Dang, nabat, I don't want no Sponge Bob! I WANT MATLOCK! Leave!

Nurse: here we go Mr. Ripper, the sponge train is choo-choo-choosing you!

Ripper:"I show you respect, I *COUH* give you a chance to leave and this is how you repay me? .... Now, you can't leave"

[Ripper brings out wiffle bat, as camera goes stage left. You hear coughing and a woman scream as we fade to black]
