Guest Eagan469 Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 I was just watching Comedy Central and a promo came on promoting the station's fall lineup. Everything looked kosher except for... "New Man Show episodes with two all-new hosts!" Then they cut to a clip of 2 guys who look so much like Adam and Jimmy rip-offs it wasn't even funny. From comedycentral.com: The Man Show returns Sunday, August 17th with all-new episodes and new hosts Joe Rogan and Doug Stanhope!!! I loved the way the show ended, and this pisses me off.
Guest TUS_02 Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 Joe Rogan is the dude from Fear Factor and News Radio and is in reality, one helluva funny guy. I don't know much about Doug Stanhope... but from what I've heard, he's pretty good himself. As long as these two go in a different direction then Adam and Jimmy, I'll have no beef with them.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 I'll just take a pass. The Man Show is Jimmy and Adam to me.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 Rogan and Stanhope are both funny motherfuckers. But you're right, its just not the same.
Guest JHawk Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 Submitted for your approval: Imagine if they decided to keep Friends on the air because it's still drawing monster ratings, but the original cast finally decided "Fuck it, we've made enough money." So they kept the same stories and same basic premise, but had an entirely new cast. That would fucking suck. That is your new Man Show, ladies and gentlemen. I like Joe Rogan, but I'm dreading the debut of the new Man Show.
Guest KanadianKrusty Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 (edited) I've got no problem with that, as long as they don't try to be Adam and Jimmy V 2.0, plus, I really like Rogan. Edited July 5, 2003 by KanadianKrusty
Guest El Satanico Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 The only thing I've seen Rogan in was the few time I've seen Fear Factor. I couldn't stand him...at all. What have you guys seen him in that makes you say he's funny? The only thing I know him from doesn't make him seem funny. I wouldn't care about new Man Show episodes, even if Jimmy and Adam were back. The show did everything it could and it had ran it's course by the time Jimmy and Adam left. It just started to become boring retreads of material they've already done.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 I will give Rogan a little credit, outside of his overly annoying job on Fear Factor he can be pretty funny.
Guest Vyce Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 WOW, Rogan has fans here. Frankly, while he can be funny at times, he annoys me more than he makes me laugh. So I'll pass on this.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 His comedy album is fucking hillarious.
Guest Choken One Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Anyone know the Redneck Comedy Gang? GIVE THE SHOW TO THEM!
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 I remember reading these huge chat logs of Stanhope posing as a 12 year old crippled girl and cybering with people... that was funny, though quite a different medium than television. I'll watch it once at least cause I've never seen him do anything else.
Guest Ray Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Noooooooooooooo! I really hate this idea. Adam and Jimmy WERE The Man Show. The show is done, just leave it alone Comedy Central....

This is more akin to something like the Tonight Show. I don't see how the show could get worse than it was. Adam Carolla was bad, and Jimmy Kimmel was very average (he's better on his talk show, but a lot of times he gets too obnoxious) from the little I saw. Rogan at least could kick someone's ass*, and cyber transcripts are usually funny, so this new guy may not be too bad. But I don't plan on starting to watch the show, so I really could care less. * - REAL MEN WIN FIGHTS
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 As long as these two go in a different direction then Adam and Jimmy, I'll have no beef with them. So they are going to talk about world politics and swap recipes? I've seen a few commercials for the new Man Show team, and damn it's looking pretty bad...

You forgot to mention having the juggies bounce on a trampol.... a bed.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 speaking of comedy central, I think the south park movie is on right now. Man, there's just something exciting about so many f-bombs being said on basic cable.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 As long as these two go in a different direction then Adam and Jimmy, I'll have no beef with them. Guest Slapnuts00 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Joe Rogan is also a color commentator for UFC!
Guest starvenger Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 As long as these two go in a different direction then Adam and Jimmy, I'll have no beef with them. Not TOO different, know what I mean? The show still has to appeal to the Al Bundys of the USA...
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 If they go in a different direction, the show will be moved to the Lifetime Network...
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I don't know Doug Stanhope from a hole in the ground, so can't say that he'd make a difference to me watching. But Joe Rogan is almost as annoying as AJ Benza, and is reason enough to make me not watch. On a mostly unrelated note, does anyone know if the DVD for the man show is just the (edited) tv show, or is it unedited, or is it a combination therein?
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Joe Rogan is one cool guy. He is a huge MMA fan and post on a MMA forum that I post on. He's always been a cool guy even when people fuck with him.
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Admittedly, Jimmy and Adam ARE the Man Show, but times changes and people move on. Stanhope IS one hilarious guy, if anyone has seen his Comedy Central Presents special, they'd know that. He can be so un-PC at times, that it's hilarious. His hooker story at the end of the show needs the be heard to be believed. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Guest redbaron51 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 hmmm... the line up is good. but the majority is that they should not be Jimmy and Adam v2.0
