Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 7, 2003 The Reds aquired D'Angelo Jimenez today from the White Sox for minor league pitcher Scott Dunn. Good move for the Reds. Jimenez is a solid middle infielder.

Guest Human Fly Report post Posted July 7, 2003 We don't need another middle infielder. With Larkin, Castro, Olmedo, Freel in the minors who has shown some decent play, Boone can play the middle of the infield as well(and I think he'll do it when Larson gets called up for good). Without the pitching this deal won't mean a thing, I don't think the deal would mean a thing even if we had pitching.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Larkin is gone in a year or two...Olmedo seems solid at Second...SS is shaky with Lopez... Doesn't hurt to pick up an expirenced MIF for the playoff chase. I'm still convinced we go Encarceion on Gullin and trade him along with package of Minors for An starter and another Minor leauge OF. Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Good pickup for the Reds, since Jimenez is a solid hitter who can play multiple positions. His glove is a little suspect, though. I don't see the point of trading him for a 25-year old reliever pitching AA ball. It's not like the guy's a prospect at this point in his career, and few guys who work as closers in the minors do so with any success in the majors. I guess it beats getting nothing for him, but not by much.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Jimenez must be a pain in the ass. This is his is 4th team and he's only 25. The White Sox could of used him has a utility player, like the Reds probably plan on doing.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 7, 2003 The reds HAVE enough utility players Olmedo, Lopez, Pena, Taylor, Branyan, and others I can't even remember... We need to STICK with a Solid rotation... It's an rite of passage since the 1999 season for the REDS to have a rotating door of 4-5 GOOD-GREAT outfielders to shift around to the point the reds are willing to "screw" tradition and move to the A.L
