Guest El Satanico Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 !!! I can't wait. Next week there's a two disc SE of Brain Damage and the week after there's a two disc SE of Versus.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I find it ironic that it's "from the director of Nightmare on Elm St. and Scream". Nightmare I can understand, but the film's nothing like Scream at all...especially given its cult popularity it'd make more sense to me to compare it to Last House on the Left then the latter. But then I'm just looking for more reasons to hate Anchor Bay; I'm glad they're putting out this release, and I can't wait to see what they put on the re-release next year!

Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 !!! I can't wait. Next week there's a two disc SE of Brain Damage and the week after there's a two disc SE of Versus. What will be on those two DVDs? Brain Damage: Limited Edition (I had no idea this one was supposed to be a 2-discer, as Synapse's own description implies nothing beyond a new master, not that it matters since I don't own the original edition). Oh, and it's out on the 22nd, not next week. I wish it was next week, by the end of the month my money'll be drained 'cuz I'm really looking forward to the epic exploitation discs Something Weird has on tap for July. Not too sure on Versus (actually, don't know much about the film in general, what's all they hype/love about?). Media Blasters' page for it is here, but Media Blasters gives notoriously little information on their discs (even when they're packed) on their own pages. Their new "3 versions of major releases" concept is really confusing to me (stupid Blockbuster/major rental chains not carrying "uncut" versions of titles!). I just hope they don't do it with Zombi 2.
Guest El Satanico Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Brain Damage which is a limited edition release features the following extras. - New! High Definition 1080P/24fps Transfer (1.85:1) - New! Dolby Digital 5.1 Remix for Home Theater Environments - New! Liner Notes - New! Animated Menu Screens and Special Packaging - Audio Commentary from Director Frank Henenlotter - Isolated Music Score Versus
Guest El Satanico Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 what's all they hype/love about?). This quote should tell you all you need to know. Blending zombie horror with EVIL DEAD 2 style slapstick and Hong Kong action pyrotechnics, VERSUS is a very bloody and very enjoyable thriller. How can that NOT rule
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 This quote should tell you all you need to know. Blending zombie horror with EVIL DEAD 2 style slapstick and Hong Kong action pyrotechnics, VERSUS is a very bloody and very enjoyable thriller. How can that NOT rule Oooooh! Do you know of any sites with any screen-caps? That's what sold me on Synapse's upcoming Stacy release (I was fairly indifferent to it given the mixed reviews I'd read so far on Junk, the other highly anticipated modern Japanese zombie film, until I came across these babies. O. M. G~!) There's also another downside of Media Blasters' "3 versions" set-up; combined with my stinginess...does it rule enough for just a director's cut, or a special edition? With a $5-$10 price difference between editions for a film I haven't seen, it's quite the dilemma. I'm a special features whore, but I've never seen the film. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but it's a $5-$10 price difference! That's like, a fifth of my bank account
Guest El Satanico Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I remember seeing pictures from Versus at some point, but I don't know where. Google it which won't be a quick seach since it 's a common word. I'll compare the difference before buying. Stacy looks great...Japanese girls dressed like Sailor Moon and a bunny with chainsaws...ooooh yeeeeah
Guest Ravenbomb Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 *Simultaneously orgasms and shits pants* This is the first time I ever couldn't wait for September
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 No doubt ... why couldn't it be September NOW?!?
