Guest gthureson Report post Posted March 30, 2002 I bought Freedom Force for the PC having read one article and not seeing a demo. I figured I'd better buy it just so there is a chance for more superhero gaming on the horizon. It's a fun game. Custom hero building...though its a bit wonky...it works. Lots of skins to download already. Its a 60s Silver Age mission-based game, but its fun. Befitting the Silver Age, no one dies...you can only knock people out. But the characters they've come up with themselves are just fun...you can tell what they are based off of most of the time. And the 'Secret Origins of....' are definately very Stan Lee-ish. Kinda silly...but it fits the genre. Definate thumbs up....and a must for anybody looking for a comic book game.
Guest Report post Posted March 30, 2002 I plan on picking this one up as soon as possible. With my budget, that could be awhile, so the demo awaits. To the download cave! (I do believe this game was made for me.)
Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 30, 2002 Sounds interesting. Definitely worth a look, at the very least...
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 30, 2002 Yeah, I downloaded the demo a few days ago, and it was pretty fun. There are already a bunch of skins available for it, and I made a quickie She-Hulk skin to go with the female_basic model. Too bad the only female voice available in the demo is the evil Russian girl, so She-Hulk goes around punching people saying "For Nuclir Vinter!" and "For de Motherland!". And it's fun to walk around in the first scenario totally ignoring what you're supposed to do and demolishing buildings and police cars instead, all the while screaming "For justice!". Or playing vigilante hero and punching bad guys off roofs. Heh heh. I don't know if I'll be paying full price for this game, but once it goes down, it'll be a fun buy. One complaint I have is with the fact that you can't seem to rotate the screen around, so buildings keep getting in my way, and it can be hard to see some things. Guest gthureson Report post Posted March 31, 2002 You can rotate the screen in the final version.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 31, 2002 Hey gthureson, when you're done playing, let us know how long the game is. I don't feel like shelling out $35 or so for a game that I'll finish in 3 days (though with all the different things that can be customized, I guess the replay value is decent). And is multiplayer fun? I would like to see more superhero games too. There's an MMORPG called City of Heroes that will be out soon, but it'll have a monthly fee. Screw that. Guest MaskedDanger Report post Posted March 31, 2002 City of Heroes will have a monthly fee? Fuck! I was looking forward to that one! Oh well, I've played Freedom Force and I know it's awesome, so I'll just get that instead.
Guest gthureson Report post Posted April 1, 2002 I finished it tonight. 15 longish missions. But I'd give it a fairly decent replay value because you are only taking 4 heroes per mission, so there is always the opportunity to take different ones the next time. And to add in your own guys and try it with them. Or with just one hero all the way through. Etc. Etc. Haven't tried the multiplayer. I tend to shy away from multiplaying stuff 'cause most people on the net are powergamers. But I've finished it, and I'm starting a new campaign just so I can use Dagger and Black Panther ('cause I like the skins). I might go hunting for a cheat so I can add in The Hulk (who will be horribly expensive if you give him 'strongest one there is' kind of stats...but a rampaging Hulk in this game will be a hoot. Trashing the city...whee.)

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 23, 2002 At the base screen, press the (~) key and type Campaign_AddPrestige(9000000) and you will get 9000000 prestige points. I got that code from www.freedomforcecenter.com as well as a lot of skins (although a lot of them don't work for me).
Guest gthureson Report post Posted April 23, 2002 For some of the skins you have to download new meshes (models). People have come out with a bunch of new ones. Try this site and the links off of it for some of them: http://www.darkjared.addr.com/ff/ffmain.htm
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 24, 2002 I am having more success from these new skins. Thanks.
