Guest Nanks Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 It's actually well worth reading the book and/or anything by Roald Dahl, if you're in a bit of a brainless half hour read mood. I recommend The BFG. His two part autobiography Boy & Flying Solo are good reads too. Led a pretty interesting life. As for whatever Dahl didn't like about the movie I'm almost sure it will be found in the sequel book. He picks up the story immediately from where he left off, with the glass elevator soaring out through the roof and ending up in orbit where they encounter evil space creatures and such. Maybe Wonka's a little more wacky and bizarre in the sequel. It was so long ago...
Guest subliminal_animal Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 Walken or Depp. I like Keaton, but he's not Wanka, IMO. Yeah, he's more of a "wanksta," I'd say. No, I don't have anything worthwhile to add.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 Will Gary Coleman be an Oompa-Loompa?
Guest teke184 Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 "Chaalie... do not talk to Slugworth... it puts you in GRAVE DAANGER!" Walken, natch.
Guest Vyce Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 [Jay Mohr Walken Impression] "Hey, you, Mr. Oompah-loompah over there. This chocolate. It's terrible. It's crazy. It needs more cowbell. I gotta fevah! And the only cure is more Fizzy Lifting Drinks!" [/Jay Mohr Walken Impression] THAT is comedic genius, my friend. I don't know if anyone who has not seen Jay's impression or who has not seen Walken on SNL will get it, but it IS genius.
