Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted July 11, 2003 In the vein of the Paul London thread in WWE folder: The show after London wrestles his last match against Samoa Joe, OVW head Cornette make an appearance for ROH in Dayton. With this new development, I'm even more curious as to what will happen. Cornette is obviously one of the most respected managers and overall wrestling minds of all time. However, I assume most ROH fans despise the OVW/WWE style, and they'll be even more pissed he just "stole their boy" London. So the reaction he gets will be quite interesting. This might be a pipe dream, but I'm hoping Cornette is there to announce a talent exchange between ROH and OVW. That way, we could still see London in ROH before he gets called up, and get a sneak preview at some OVW workers at their full potential before they hit WWE. Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted July 11, 2003 I'd love it if Cornette caught some heel heat and went all oldschool on the fans, and cut one of his old promos. It'd most likely go over like a fart in church, but I'd mark out for sure.
Guest Deviant Report post Posted July 12, 2003 Cornette knows how to work a crowd, I have no fears about how he'll do in front of the audience. However, I am very interested to see what he will do. What have been some of the rumours? I hope it is somewhat of a talent exchange, I would like to see exactly what the OVW guys have without ordering a tape that has Mark Henry on it. I can't justify paying money for that when in all likelyhood, the most I could hope for is Randy Orton. It would be a great way to test the in ring skills of the OVW guys, because if they suck, they'll hear about it! I also wouldn't mind video proof that they are half decent before WWE massacre whatever talent they may have.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2003 It would be cool if Jim Cornette brought Paul London back for one show and managed him in a rematch against Samoa Joe. That way Paul London could win the title July 19 and then have Samoa Joe win it back August 9.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 12, 2003 I'd fucking mark out as hell if one day ROH/OVW did merge shows. That would be so awesome.
Guest Jimmy Saint Report post Posted July 12, 2003 I am a fan of both feds but I can't really see a talent swop working or happening at all. I think Corny is there to just make an apperance like Tommy Dreamer did and probably to do some scouting as well. If the ROH fans did boo him.....then trust me Jim Cornette would run his mouth off and rip the hell out of them and they would all probably love it. As for the quality of OVW wrestlers well the very best are as good as the best of ROH and probably more polished all round too. Nick Dinsmore, Rob Conway, Johnny Jeter are great talents and match up to guys like American Dragon, Christohper Daniels, Doug Williams. Get the tv blocks from april this year if you want some proof. The 45 min 2\3 falls match between Dinsmore and Doug Bashem which was a a year in the build up is being pimped in all the right places on the net [dvd, rim, etc] as being a MOTYC. Trust me its a belter. They tell a great story, keep you involved throughout and don't have to resort to moonsault planchas and 450 ssp's or whatever to pop the crowd. Just don't try and watch it expecting anything like Special K. In fact if you like Special K don't even buy any at all.
Guest Deviant Report post Posted July 13, 2003 I've been looking at OVW tapes, wondering which one would give me some indication of who is decent and who isn't. I don't want to buy more than one or two though. A 2/3 falls match like that just might sell one to me though...
Guest DonWestMark03 Report post Posted July 15, 2003 It would be awesome if Cornette made a debut in ROH. He is one of the most charamastic managers in wrestling, and he would be a great addition to the ROH roster.
