Guest Jay Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 I've got to go with the Natural Disasters vs. the Beverly Brothers match at SummerSlam 92 for the WWF World Tag Team Title. The match started off slowly, then worked it's way into some classic old-school heel tag wrestling by the Beverly Bros. They cut the ring off, they goaded Earthquake in to dole out more damage to Typhoon while the ref tried to get Quake out, they used the tag rope (God, I loved that thing), they used illegal double teams. The match had numerous near-falls for the Beverlies, who looked very strong after the match. Of course, Typhoon made the hot tag, and Quake killed them both, like a good face would. Just a great match.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 New Foundation vs. Orient Express at RR92 ws pretty decent, considering TOE were JTTS, Owen was just REstarting his WWF careet and Anvil wa son his way out (again)
Guest MiloMahoney Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 I know this is the old school forum but i thought the Simon/Swinger vs York/Mathews matches on ECW tv was really good.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 I'm going to say the Ricky Steamboat/Dustin Rhodes vs. The Enforcers (Arn Anderson & Larry Zybsko (Sp?) match for the WCW Tag Titles from Clash of the Champions XVII (17). Steamboat took the place of Barry Windham. Most forget about this match, but damn was it a great match. The crowd was hot and went crazy when Rhodes & Steamboat won. I also belive it was the debut of the WCW Tag Titles that was used from '91-'98. WCW was starting to make new belts to replace the NWA titles they were using.
Guest MiloMahoney Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 God i rember that match.I was a kid at my grandparents house and i was watching a little black and white tv in the back room and when staemboat came out i poped huge. Such a great match. I haven't seen it in years.
Guest Jay Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 Milo, you've got two great underrated teams right there. York and Matthews were wasted in ECW, I was amazed. ECW usually made good use out of the up-and-coming indie guys on their shows, then again, with the financial turmoil the company was in, I guess it was to be expected.
Guest Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 Even though it was only a year ago, I give the honors to the O'Haire, Palumbo v.s Kanyon, Stasiak match on Sunday Night Heat. The wrestlers worked hard and it got the crowd excited towards the end of the match.
Guest dreamer420 Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 I like Strike Force vs. The Brainbusters from Wrestlemania 5. It is the match where Martel turns on Santana and becomes "the model"
Guest RetroRob215 Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 I agree with Dreamer, that match is awesome, yet it isn't mentioned much.
Guest Drury37 Posted March 30, 2002 Report Posted March 30, 2002 I'm going to say the Ricky Steamboat/Dustin Rhodes vs. I have to agree,I also think that an under rated match was a match from WWF All American Wrestling from like 1994 when the Bushwhackers beat the Quebecers when only one Bushwhacker wrestled the whole match and they still beat the Quebecers, anyone else remember this? Thanks.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 There's no such thing as a good Bushwhacker match. Maybe as the Sheepherders, but not as the Bushwhackers. I'll go with Arn & Larry vs Dustin & Steamer.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 The Bushwhacker/Mountie match i saw on a MNR afte rWrestlemania. It was TERRIBLE i mean come on, if the Rougaus cant, what makes you think just jacque can?
Guest Drury37 Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 No this match was on WWF All American Wrestling and it was a good match,it was actually good. The Quebecers controlled the tempo of the whole match and that's why I think it was good, man I wish I could remember exactly when it was,I think it was sometime in early 1994. Thanks.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 same match. all AMerican Wrestling showed REPLAYS off Superstars, Wrestlin gchallenge & MNR. Sheesh. No offense. Dumbass. Like i said, no offense.
Guest Drury37 Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 No you idiot it is not the same match because it took place when WWF Raw was still at the Hammerstein Ball Room and this match wasn't at the Hammerstein Ballroom it was an exclusive match. Thanks.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 31, 2002 Report Posted March 31, 2002 I think the reason most people are jumping on you is because The Bushwhackers never had a good match. If they did people would remember it. Since a good Bushwhackers match is a very rare thing. They used to bleed buckets as the Sheepherders though.
Guest ArkhamGlobe Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 I also have to agree with Strike Force vs the Brain Busters from WM V. A very good, but very forgotten match. Plus, I'm also a huge mark for the Brain Busters .
Guest nWoScorpion Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 The Bushwhackers didnt return til Fall 1993, WWF didnt hold shows in the Manahtten Center anymore. Anyway, Ive seen all the MNR, Superstars & Wrestling Challenges since 1993 and dont recall a Bushwhacker/Quebecer match being good. Their first was post WMX.
Guest thebear Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 Holly/1-2-3 Kid VS bigelow/tatanka from rumble 95
Guest nWoScorpion Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 1-2-3 Kid & Marty Jannetty Vs. The Quebecers on the 1 Year Anniversay Monday Night Raw.
Guest Your Olympic Hero1 Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 I second Marty Jeanetty/Kid vs. The Quebecers - excellent match (and I'm wondering why no one's used that overhead suplex/bodypress off the top rope finisher since).
Guest nWoScorpion Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 Maybe the bump is too stiff for it. Several more matches I could nominate are Diesel/HBK vs. Kid/Ramon, & Davey Boy/Bret Vs. Owen/Backlund was fairly decent. Both on Action zone i believe.
Guest fairtoflair7 Posted April 1, 2002 Report Posted April 1, 2002 Ok, the match that I think gets no respect is Rockers/ orient Express at RR 91. The whole match was basically non stop and the ending sequence is amazing.
