Reasoning behind "boring" gimmick

It has been reported that Storm's "boring" gimmick was designed to give him a big push. They were hoping it would go along the same lines as Kurt Angle's "you suck" chants. They were also hoping that if the crowd got the "boring" chants out of their systems, then they wouldn't chant it during other matches, since the WWE is adopting a slower pace to prevent injuries.

I really have a hard time believing this could help Storm. It's becoming less of a "You Suck" thing and more of that stupid "What" chant.

If this is true, it's the kind of thing that makes you question just how stupid human beings can be.

Or ask Vince McMahon if he's ever had any experience running a wrestling company.

At this point any kind of a reaction is good for Lance Storm.

Time to start 2 Slow chant

Again, WWE assumes that it can create a spontanious reaction. They assumed that they could start a Rock heel turn with Randy Orton, forgetting of course that Orton has only a fraction of the Rock's charisma, and here they try to start a "You suck Chant" a la Kurt Angle, forgetting of course that they hadn't completely (no matter how hard they tried) destroyed Angle's credibility. The you suck chants worked because Kurt Angle obviously DOESN'T suck, and so it was just something to jeer a heel wrestler with. the problem is that Lance Strom IS boring (at least according to popular opinion, personally I find him very charismatic as a dickish heel) and so you are accentuating his weakness. WWE keeps forgetting that it's greatest triumohs, the Rock, Stone Cold, Bret Hart etc were not the result of constant pushes, but an effect of stuff that happened naturally.

Where's the "big push"? I definitely don't see it anywhere.

I also find it hilarious that the guy who was in the ring with Lance when this all started has been doing Heat and dark matches since then, and getting the chant himself. I wonder what Cade's trainer, HBK, thinks about that.

It's also funny how the chant has spread like wildfire, instead of 'getting it out of the fans' systems'. Talk about backfiring.

As much fun as it is to see entire buildings chant boring at Storm, in the interest of preserving his job they should have made it "Bullshit" instead of "Boring"

It's funny cause the "boring" chants have increased 10-fold since the beginning of this gimmick.

I saw this guy in action, he fucking sucks ass. Thank God they didn't make Rico put this champ over. ^_^

Of course, if AUSTIN says something, its gonna stick to fans / marks like flies on shit. God, I hate that. And WHAT? is the lamest thing WWE ever came up with.

Lance Storm was over in ECW. Maybe not as over as the top ECW stars like Rob Van Dam, but his matches got reactions.

Why? Because he entertained the crowd in the ring.

Dawn Marie didn't hurt there towards the end either...

I still don't see how "You Suck" is a _good_ thing.

Well, it would be alright is Kurt was a heel...

Cause Kurt embraced the chant and made it his own. It's truly become a chant of endearment and this chant is augmented by a huge pop.

¿Que?

Why couldn't the crowd just give him the huge pop? Why must they chant "you suck" to a babyface that they don't think sucks? Who gives a shit if Kurt embraced it. It still goes against logic...

"You suck" is a term of endearment?? Oh lord. Seriously, do you hear that chant and think "BOY OH BOY THE FANS LOVE KURT!". It's completely needless and makes Kurt look like a dufus.

Exactly, Kurt Angle does NOT suck so why would you say that to him if you LIKE him? It doesn't make any sense at all. You think the crowd would chant "You Rule" instead.

When did the "You Suck" chant start anyway?

I remember after Edge shaved Angle bald at JD last year, Edge had them play Kurt's music and encouraged the crowd to chant "You're Bald" and they did, that was pretty funny.

Yeah, that didn't catch on very well. Mainly because it was fucking retarded.

I can't remember when the "You Suck" chants started either. I remember the crowd chanting "You suck, what?" for awhile though.

A better way to prevent injuries would be to quit pumping steroids and human growth hormone that stretches the body's ligaments and muscles and primes them for injury. Of course, running fewer shows a week might help as well: no other company runs more shows a week than WWE. Where's the time to heal from nagging injuries? There is none, and nagging injuries and worn-down bodies set the stage for bigger injuries.

BTW, Lance Storm, despite all the rumors I've seen and heard, won't ever get a 'big push', for whatever reason (could be the 'non-WWE-produced wrestler' theory). They'll let the 'boring' gimmick run its course, put him on Heat Job Patrol, adn let him go before the end of this year. Just watch.

That's fine by me. Financially, Storm most likely wouldn't be better off in NWA. However, from a fan's point of view, I'd rather watch him in NWA.

They could even reform the Impact Players.

Look, I'm not saying it's very logical. It just sorta....happened. My point is that it has become sort of an understanding.

An understanding to who? I sure as fuck don't understand it.

I miss those days. They could still have Dawn moved to RAW to be Lance's valet again. She hasn't been doing shit on SD for months now anyway.

I would actually rather have Dawn Marie join the F.B.I. than to help Storm solo.

I miss the Impact Player days too.

Talking about Dawn Marie, what ever happened to her? SHe hasn't really been on TV since the horror of a storyline with Torrie. I wouldn't mind seeing her on Raw with Lance. They are a pretty good couple and compliment each other pretty well.

Dawn Marie would have to go back to the ditzy role as opposed to the whore role if she was to manage Storm again.

I say let her remain the whore gimmick...but in the FBI. Then, whenever she "whores herself out" to someone, the FBI can "whack em" for taking advantage of "nuzio's sister" or something along those lines.

Kind of like the relationship between Mastrantonio & Pacino in Scarface.

Vince pushing Storm? What's next? Big Show working a watchable match?

Storm won't get any kind of push, this'll go on for a little while then they'll shelve it and bury him or use the tv time for someone else.

Heh, that is a pretty good idea. It would be a great instigator of feuds and that's what's needed, really. I really do hate feuds that happen for no reason. That's one of my pet peeves.

Last time I ever saw Dawn she helped Nidia beat up Torrie in Sable's Invitational thingy. I like the FBI, its a good heel stable, one of the few left in the WWE. The last time Lance ever got a push singles-wise was when he was the Intercontinental Champion (he beat Albert for it) and he had a very short reign with it. I doubt he'll see gold metal again.

Right, especially if the first person Dawn was to hit on just so happened to be Spanky. It would lead to a Nuzio/Spanky feud. Instead, we get a Velocity match.

Or if we were to reverse roles and get more in depth. Dawn could hit on Noble. Nidia would get jealous, and instead of beating on Dawn, since she's supposed to be trash, she would just go after Nuzio. Then, Dawn would play the role of Nuzio and try to get Nidia whacked. Both heels or not, I think it would be entertaining.
