Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted July 13, 2003 Well, Dontrelle didn't have his best outing of the year today, but he moved to 9-1. In the outing, his ERA went up to 2.08. He's slippin'. In other news, Luis Castillo was named to the All Star team to replace Marcus Giles. Whoo-hoo. Discuss all Dontrelle related phenom business here. (This could be the thread used in October to discuss his Cy Young win).
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2003 How about overhyped? How about Mark Fydrich? Seriously I'm already sick of Dontrelle Willis.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 13, 2003 Yay, he's having a good season and he's young. He'll be a Yankee in a year or two...
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted July 13, 2003 Yay, he's having a good season and he's young. He'll be a Yankee in a year or two... and be washed up after 2 seasons with the Yanks
Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 13, 2003 He plays for the Marlins. Anything that makes anything related to Jeffrey Loria look good, I hate.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted July 13, 2003 So far Willis has been the real deal. I also like the kid's attituted and apparant respect for the game. So let's see where he is in a few years, but I am hoping he continues to have success.
Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted July 13, 2003 I liked how he handled himself on an interview with Fox before thier game of the week the other day. He's got a great attitude, and pops big ratings in Florida like they haven't seen since the '97 World Series. With all the buzz he's created, he's almost like the LeBron James of baseball...and I think he should be starting the All-Star Game against Halladay, who has won 13 in a row. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 13, 2003 Who is starting the game? Halladay I thought was taken out because Toronto Head Coach asked Scosica not to play him... I'd go with the Chicago Pitcher, Loazia or whatever the fuck...
Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 13, 2003 Halladay's available, but I think he'll only pitch an inning, so he likely won't start.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2003 All pitchers who pitched today are out of discussion for starting since none will go more than one inning and that includes Willis. Jason Schmidt has all but been officially named the N.L. starter and Esteban Loaiza is the best bet for the A.L. but still a chance it will be Jamie Moyer. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 14, 2003 I like the guy but Brandon Webb's numbers are very similiar. He might have better stuff overall has well.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 14, 2003 I give Willis a much better chance to succeed than Fidrych. People forget that Fidrych never struck anyone out, a key indicator of future success. Willis has a good K rate and BB rate.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 14, 2003 Was Fidrych the dude who talked to the Baggie or whatever?
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 14, 2003 Yeah. He talked to the ball all the time.
