Its interesting how all the Gail groupies who for months beforehand were talking about how she "is such a step up from all these blond bimbos!" and "finally someone who combines looks AND wrestling ability!" are either now changing their story or nowhere to be found.

Who are those?

 

I never expected her to be a great wrestler, I just hoped she was decent. Sure, she isn't, but I wasn't expecting greatness in the first place. As she got nearer to the debut I lowered my expectations. However, my expectations were that they'd start her slow and perhaps even start her with a Lita role, not throw the strap on her and have her wrestling weekly.

 

And as for "a step up from the blond bimbos," I think you're forgetting we're talking looks wise. I hate Stacy's character but at least she looks different (small in the chest, nice legs and ass). Not like the big-titted generic blonds like Torrie--who is still a horrible wrestler just about Gayda in ability, and should only be wrestling if it's a pool nearly naked.

 

That being said, her wrestling disappoints me and she has no character at all whatsoever. They apparently hoped to get her over on her wrestling--something she's not capable of doing. Victoria got over because she had character and was a decent wrestler. Jazz got over by her intensity in pounding the crap out of Trish. Molly got over in her initial joining of WWF with a character and ability.

 

Gail's got nothing right now. No character whatsoever. And while she's got a slim, lithe physique, that means she's not top heavy, leggy, or bootylicious, so she's not going to get over that way. She lacks the ring ability to get over on skills.

 

So either she needs to actually improve about fourfold, or she's totally screwed.

Theres a reason why Jackie Gayda and Linda Miles are just valets now. Kim isnt THAT bad, but she needs to do something to make me say "Wow that was good" not "haha, that bitch sucks and can't do shit!".

I never said you by name, and truth be told I can't remember anyway, but I remember the term "female Rey Mysterio" being thrown around more than once around here.

 

As for looks, I'll agree to disagree. Gail isn't all that at all, I'd take Torrie over her any day. But that's a taste thing, its irrelevant to the wrestling ability either way. I will say however I'd rather watch Torrie putz around in the ring than sit through one of Gail's (blown)spot-fests. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate good wrestling, it means I'm a guy, and you're not going to find to much good wrestling with Gail either.

 

Too bad Kaientai's not still around. She would've made a perfect Lita type valet.

"Female Rey Mysterio" was a term that some nameless person or persons supposedly used for her while in the independents. I doubted the validity, because I knew there was no way a worker with 2-3 years experience, especially a woman, would be anywhere near being honestly compared to a decade-plus veteran who blows a spot once in a blue moon.

 

And she didn't really really blow any spots on TV until last night, so I don't know if she's going to continue doing so often or if it was just a bad night. I was more disappointed with her limited move set. If blowing spots is going to be a consistent problem, then she'll probably be yanked off TV or have a reduced role.

 

As for the idea--Lita-type valet? That part would have been fine, and it was what I expected at first. Kai En Tai? Why? A tag team of perennial jobbers that have nothing in common with her other than having ancestors on the same continent? Yeah, this is the federation where Samoans play black and Japanese wrestlers, but that's still pretty stupid.

I see her more as the female Kevin Nash. You can see her spots coming from a mile away, and her execution is lacking - it's like watching a match in slow motion.

I've got to admit that I was one of the ones saying "Give her more than a four minute match before passing judgment", but blowing two or three spots in a 30 second sequence makes me change my opinion drastically. That was absolutely horrible, and she needs to improve a great deal now before she ends up becoming THE flop of the women's division.

 

If she starts using some basic moves instead of relying on ranas and the lucha libre flippy stuff, maybe she can mask some of her weaknesses, but she still needs to make some noticeable improvements fairly quickly.

Well in the ideal scenario, Kaientai wouldn't be perrenial jobbers either. As for having "nothing" in common, I don't know Gail's nationality or particularly care; the point is she would be playing a character. That's like complaining how they hail Canadian Val Venis as being from Las Vegas.

 

In any case, valet duty is still a better idea then winning the belt in a heatless battle royale in her first match.

She kind of reminds me of 3 minute warning/Island boys. Remember the hype these guys had in the indies. They were the best big-man team to be seen in a long time etc. And they came to the big time and looked really lost and out of place.

 

My patience is wearing thin on Gail, she brings nothing with her. She does 3 moves and doesn't even do them well. Trish, Ivory, Molly etc has done all those moves Gail has shown them and with a lot more realistic technique. She needs to work on her basics ASAP and be send down to Ohio Valley and have WWE admit they over-estimated her ability.

 

I think we got spoiled on how well Victoria did right away. She came in, got her character nicely over in a feud with Trish and at the same time really showed very good wrestling skill. All in a short little time, Gail has done none of that

 

They need the get the title off her fast and move to a different direction, any direction.

I watched her match tonight (I had to tape Raw because I was on vacation). At first I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but now it looks like she may indeed suck. She has terrible execution compared to Victoria or Molly, and she doesn't have the in-ring charisma Trish has. I didn't help that she blew that move on the top rope. Maybe time will prove me wrong, but she's no female Rey Mysterio.

Vic is a good worker. Trish, god bless her, has worked harder then any woman to become better then I have ever seen. She has inproved, but she just can't pull it off. Ivory has never gotten the respect she deserved, IMO. Gail Kim, has just plain sucked.

After it's all been said and done, Gail Kim will still be the rookie who exploded on the global arena WAY TOO EARLY. You know, you'd think one year down from the Tough Enough fiasco, WWE booking would've learnt something.

 

You know what I think we smarks need? For Lita to come back with the EXACT same moveset as Gail Kim, botch her moves and STILL get over.

I think you guys are totally undermining what Trish brings to the table. I think she's the best bumper in the women division and seriously one of the best seller in all of WWE. She does the little things so well, she'll sell an injured part, she'll sell major pain when in a submisstion. I think 90% of the entire roster could learn a lesson in sellling by Trish. It's one of those things anyone can do but Trish actually takes the time to do and effort to do it.

 

I also see Trish's track record for helping get other girls over is very strong. Much stronger then any other #1 diva of the past or the #1 diva of Smackdown in the past year (Torrie). Dare I say we all would be happier if the #1 man on Raw (HHH) had the same ability to get his opponents over when feuding. Jazz came in early 2002 without much reaction and Trish bumping like hell for her made Jazz into a monster. Victoria came in with very little hype, feuded with Trish and she's one of the more popular character on Raw. I'm not taking anything away from Jazz or Victoria. Both are very talented but I think having a dance partner like Trish really helped and Trish deserves credit for that as well

Admittedly so, yes, she's able to bump well, but she's still got a limited moveset, so she'll never stack up well against an average Japanese female wrestler. That's the inherent problem with the way women are trained over here, which has been brought up time and time again.
