Garrett Anderson is not the most underrated player

Recommended Posts

Guest Vern Gagne

Is anyone else sick and tired of peple say Garrett Anderson is underrated. How can someone be underrated if peopel say he's underrated?

Know some thoughts and prediction on the 2nd half.

The Phillies will make a run at the Braves. Thome is a great 2nd half hitter.

Memo to Cox and Pendleton. You should be worried about Furcals' plummeting average. He's trying to hit hr's, and not getting on base which is what he's supposed to be doing.

Jason Schmidt throwing this many pitches will come back and hurt the Giants down the line. In the postseason by the way. The same goes for the Marlins and Cubs. Who will both run out of gas by the time September runs around.

Arizona's going to struggle when all the missing players return. They will remain contenders for the W.C. spot.

Anaheim has only 6 games against the Central. They can get back in the W.C. race.

It's the Royals division to lose. They have a 7 and 7.5 game lead over two underachieving teams, who show no signs of getting there act together.

Cleveland will have one of the better 2nd halfs in baseball. Finishing the season with 78 wins.

Teams most likely to make a trade. Oakland, San Fran, St.Louis, New York, and Chicago.

Adam Dunn will strike 100 more times in the second half.

Bob Boone will be fired, replaced by interim manager Ray Knight and then at the end of the season Pete Rose will be reinstated, he is serving secret probation now according to the Cincy Enquirer, and will be named the reds manager for 2004.

Anderson WAS under-rated in the sense he didn't get the LUV untilt this week. He for the moment is one of baseball's Premier names.

The Cincinnati Reds will make a charge in the second half making the National Central a 4 way dogfight up to the final games leaving with St. Louis SOMEHOW emerging as Central Champions.

The American Central will be Kansas City whom will coast to victory even without Sweeney who misses more then he was expected...

The National East will be Braves by a long shot but Florida and Philly and Montreal have a dogfight for the Wild Card slot along with the Central Teams.

New York and Boston will dismantle by seasons end, ravaged by Injury and Toronto walks in as Champions...

Seattle holds off the Oakland A's whom get on another patented 2nd half hot streak.

Texas shows signs of Promise with a above .500 season.

San Fran holds off Arizona. L.A just collapsed like you couldn't imagine.

Chicago Cubs and Oakland A's secure the Wild Card slots.

A lot of wheeling and dealing this summer...

Pujols goes in a Decline at the start but in Mid August he SNAPS into a ass kicking fury rage groove finishing the season at .379 52 Home Runs and 147 RBI's...Missing the Triple Crown by One Home Run (53 dingers from Bonds). He wins the MVP. Bonds finishes second and Chipper Jones finishes 3rd after an incredible 2nd half.

Kerry Wood dominate second half and reaches 24 wins and with a 2.42 era wins the Cy Young.

John Smoltz skips over the Saves record with 65 saves. Gange collapses and finishes with 43.

Carlos Deldago(?) Falls short as well for his Bid for Triple Crown with a BA of .350 (Second to Ichiro's .358) 54 Homers (Second to A-Rod's 56) and 158 RBI's (1st). He wins MVP. A-Rod finishes Second and Ichiro finishes 3rd.

Halladay finishes with 27 wins and the Cy Young.

Playoff Results

National

Atlanta Vs Chicago

*Atlanta loses in 5.

St. Louis Vs San Francisco

*St. Louis wins in 5.

The Garret Anderson underrated crap is just typical "if it doesn't happen in New York we don't care" bullshit from the media. No one who watches baseball with any frequency or at least watches Baseball Tonight doesn't know about Garret Anderson. But the media thinks we don't know about him because *gasp* he plays all the way out in California and NO ONE lives in California. Um wait huh?

The Rangers have written off their season with trading Everett and Urbina away. Look for Young and Blalock to still be strong though.

Florida's plans to use Looper as their main closer over Urbina lasts maybe a month. Look for Looper to blow a couple key saves and they go to Urbina in still chasing a wild card slot, not happening though.

Toronto and Montreal should continue to fade.

I like the Cubs to work out a deal with the Pirates to pick up Reggie Sanders or Kenny Lofton to replace Corey Patterson.

Colorado will get their act together and finish solidly over .500, yet that is going to take more than Wilson and Helton to get things done. People will be calling for Jay Payton to have a huge year next summer and Larry Walker will officially announce his retirement.

Baltimore might also get on a role and surprise as they have solid talent.

Boston will fade in mid August as they always do and I say the Dodgers collapse under their own weight and injuries, despite the new guys they've picked up.

I like the Yankees, Seattle and Kansas City to win their divisions. Boston slips into the post season by not fading as much as Toronto and Oakland does it out west. The White Sox say they want to contend now, so look for them to slip in if Boston and/or Toronto fade too much.

In the NL I see Arizona, Houston and Atlanta winning their divisions. The wild card race will be tight, but I like the Cardinals and Giants. The Cubs, Expos and Phillies could all slip in.

I like a world series of Atlanta and Seattle with Atlanta in five.

Nobody is catching the Braves. They've got the largest lead of any division leader and are the hottest team in baseball coming into the 2nd half. Thome may be a great 2nd half hitter, but nobody is a better 2nd half hitter than Chipper Jones (who started heating up against New York & Chicago to close out the 1st half) and that will cancel out Thome's contributions.

Agreed about Furcal. He should be drawing walks and legging out grounders to set the table for Sheffield and the Jones boys. Last night's All-Star game was a perfect example. With Andruw Jones (who already had a 2-run double and a homerun) on deck in the 9th, Furcal tried to be a hero by swinging for the fences late in the at bat (missing badly on one homerun swing and coming up a few feet short on his last one). To his credit though, he did take a pitch on a 3-0 count. But as someone rooting for the NL, I would have much rather seen him try to bunt himself on and set up Andruw than swing for the fences.

Choken, you do know that with St. Louis in the NLCS, KC will be motivated to win the ALCS.

Just because the first I-70 series wasn't bitter enough, and the series this year went 3-3, with KC winning 2 in StL and 1 in KC.

Not so bold prediction: Neither Central division champ will be in the World Series. In fact its only happened twice since they went to the six division format, Indians in '95 and '97.

Anaheim has only 6 games against the Central. They can get back in the W.C. race.

Uh, wouldn't they want to be playing games vs the worst division in baseball?

My opinion on Garret Anderson is that, after the last 2 nights, MLB might have found another star for casual fans to root for, especially one not on a big market team like the Yankees. He's been a good player, but I think he's finally busting out and playing like a star player, which can only be good for the game.

Baltimore might also get on a role and surprise as they have solid talent.

Its all dependent on whether or not the make a ton of trades. Theres a going Rumor that has the Os trading Sidney Ponson (A 12 game winner so far) to the Braves, the Braves trade Estrada to The D-Rays and the Os get farking Joe Fn Kennedy from the D-Rays. If they make trades like that, they have no chance.

they need to keep Ponson (FA after this year).

The good thing is that the pitching has come around, and the bats are still warm. The O's play a ton of games vs The Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays, so its convievable if they go lights out vs them in the 2nd half they could possibly be in the wild card race, but Im not holding my breath. The main thing is that anything that they can do in the 2nd half is better than how the finished up last year (finished the season up with 4 wins and 32 loses, anything is better than that!) I just want to see an improvement from last year (on a pace to only lose about 89 games but Im hopeful closer to 85, which would be 10 games better than last year)

That would be a terrible trade. Joe Kennedy is a talented but fragile pitcher whose arm was abused the past two years... much like Ponson's was about 4-5 years ago. Ponson finally looks to be over that, and he's pitching like the O's always insisted he could. I think it helps that he's also free of bad influence Scott Erickson, but that's just me. If the O's want to trade Ponson, his value will never be higher, and they should be able to get more than a brittle pitcher from a bad team in return.

They should be motivated anyways, be it Cards or Friggin Marlins waiting for them.

6 games so far. Should of been more clear.

Well lets see....

If Atlanta doesn't win the NL pennant than that team should be dismantled. NO WAY should a team like that NOT go to the WS, especially since there aren't many teams that can really compare in the NL.

In the AL, I really don't see too many changes in positioning from where it is right now. One thing I believe, and not because i'm a major homer, and a Yankee hater, is that Boston WILL win the AL East this year. I figure it will be very closem a game or two seperating them, but Boston will take the division. Everything is going in their favor for the remainder of the season, IG they can hold their own during "Hell Month" as I like to call it. All throughout August, Boston has to play Seattle, Anaheim, New York, and Oakland pretty much every day. If they can make it through that stretch, combined with the fact that they have the most home games in all of baseball left, and the fact that they have the best Home record in baseball. they should win the division.

Oakland has to REALLY turn it up on the road for the second half, since they have more road games than any other team in baseball(51) remaning, and they have a losing record on the road. If Oakland wants the WC, they are going to really have to earn it on the road.
