Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Ok, I'm too cheap to go out and actually BUY Windows XP. Nor does anyone I know own it. So is it possible to download it off Kazaa and install it that way? If so, is it a smart move? Thanks in advance. Bif
Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Only if it is a corporate edition because if not it will want to activate itself and if you don't do it you will only get 30 days of XP. Look for Win2K or something.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 17, 2003 What you want is the professional edition with a volume license. The serial number should be provided with the download (and it's not hard to get one if it's not) and allow you to run Windows without activating it. Note that you can download all of the updates and patches EXCEPT service packs, which check for legit, registered versions.

Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted July 17, 2003 I have it on a CD somewhere - you have to be sure you get the right version Search for "2600 corporate Windows XP" and it should come up. It's an ISO, burn it to a CD. BEFORE YOU INSTALL IT: Find a pro corporate final serial online (PM me, I can hook you up) - write it down. Pop the CD in, follow the instructions and wallah, you have XP. You can't download SP-1 or SP-2, but 3rd-party packages with all the hotfixes contained in each are available. All other downloads on windowsupdate.com work fine. Good luck!
