Guest Phr33k Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Today, I bought "Rise of Nations" for the PC. I inserted the disc into my D drive, and watched as... nothing happened. It made noises like it was reading a disc, but nothing was happening. Then, I put it in the E drive... same difference. I ran a virus scan that turned up empty, defragmented my hard drive, deleted the Trial Version I had on here... nothing. On rare occasions, I get a message saying that the disc isn't compatible with Windows. So, I go upstairs to our other computer, with the same processor/RAM/etc., and it works fine. However, I want the game on the downstairs computer, and ONLY the downstairs computer. Now, my questions. Since it doesn't seem to be reading the CD, is the reader on my D and E drives on the fritz? If not, then exactly what in the hell is going on here? Comments would be appreciated. By the way... GAME REQUIREMENTS: Win2000/ME/98/XP, 500MHz processor, 128MB RAM, 800MB of free disk space, 16MB 3D card, audio board w/headphones or speakers MY COMPUTER: WinXP, 1.5GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 8 GB of free disk space, 32MB 3D Card, audio board w/speakers YEAAARGH.

Guest Phr33k Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 (edited) I put an Audio CD into the drive. It played on RealPlayer, but the "My Computer" screen didn't show the Audio CD in the drive. EDIT: I know now that it isn't the CD itself that's messed up. I tried putting my copy of NHL 2003 in there, to the same response as I got when I put RoN in. Thus, I know that my D and E drives are screwed up, but the question is, what can I do about it? Edited July 17, 2003 by Phr33k
