Edge v. Storm is MUCH better then you give it credit for. It tells a great story and features Lance Storm actually doing something worthwhile in WWE.

You also underrated Y2J v. Rhyno and Book v. Rock

i think jericho/rhyno is underrated by most people for the blown spots. it flows quite well--better than the KoR triple threat match.

edge/storm is WAY better than that.

other than that, i mostly agree with the ratings.

I didn't rate Jericho/Rhyno low because of the blown spots.

Well then explain your ratings.

Also for Edge v. Storm- You completely underrated it.

In my opinion, it's highly over rated. Nothing much happens. At all.

In both matches?

Rhyno Gores Jericho on the floor! Jericho does everything he can to gain an elusive win over Jericho and finally does- and nearly kills himself doing so.

Edge v. Storm- Still not getting the dislike

I didn't not like either of those. I thought the ratings were fitting and they were both over rated, but the Jericho match is better than the IC match.

Why didn't you like Edge v. Storm?

Storm carries Edge to his first great match of his career and it's Edge's first step towards becoming a major player.

Storm has never looked better then he did in that match as he just beats the hell out of Edge and uses real offence instead of the neck vice of doom he sues today.

The match also has a great near fall spot with Christian's botched interference.

So-

What didn't you like about it

I liked it.

But.

It was slow.

Nothing much happened.

It was over rated.

I already stated all of these.

500th post. :headbang:

A lot happened.

Edge gets the hell beat out of him for the whole match but he shows the heart of a champion and never gives back despite his own brother spearing him.

Storm plays the cold calculating heel who just beats the shit out of the young challenger and shows no mercy. He wants to pay him back for all those shenanigans and prove to him that in the end wrestling rules over all.

Now that's a great match

Also, the RVD/Hardy ladder match is terrible. As far as ladder matches go it is somewhere around Hall/Goldberg from Souled Out 1999.

Backlash; April 21; Chicago

Buh Buh Ray, D'Von, & Spike Dudley vs. X-Pac, Justin Credible, & Albert: **1/2

SummerSlam; August 19; San Jose

Edge vs. Lance Storm (Intercontinental Championship): **1/4

Could you explain why you thought the 6-man tag was better than Storm vs. Edge?

Your reasons for the low rating for Storm-Edge were that it was slow and nothing happened. The same could be said for the 6-man, yet you gave it a higher rating.

I have to agree with bob barron. I think that you're underrating Storm vs. Edge.

I personally thought the six man was more fun then it ever should have been with *THOSE* Workers! Seriously...One good bumper and a guy who was great but only 3 years prior...and 4 other duds...Call it entertaining crap.

The Edge/Storm was ***1/4 FOR me.

Because the 6-man was funner (is that a word) and quicker paced. I overall enjoyed it more than the IC.

The match was NOT slow pace...Jesus You people would have a heart attack if you were transported to the Mid 70's.

CO, were you referring to the Storm vs. Edge match? If you were, I agree with you. I didn't think that it was slow paced at all.

undisputedjericho, if you thought that Storm vs. Edge was slow, I'd like to see your reaction to Kane-Show from KOTR '99. Now that is a slow-paced match. It had a chokehold that was at least two minutes long.

Four minutes? Damn, I remembered that it was long, but not that long. Plus, I wasn't about to watch the match again to make sure. Nobody should have to watch that match more than once. Hell, even once is too much.

Not to be Outdone Yoko had Bret in Vice Grip for a good 2 1/2 minutes in the Mania MAIN EVENT.

Not a meaningless first round of a Tournment but WRESTLEMANIA!

Yoko also had Luger in a long vice grip during their WM X match. I'm not too sure, but I think that it may been even longer than the Bret-Yoko one.

I'd just like to say that Scott Keith rated the ladder match higher than I did...

- Hardcore ladder match: Jeff Hardy v. Rob Van Dam. Matwork to start establishes parity. They trade kicks and Jeff legdrops him low, and Rob backs off. Jeff gets dumped, but hiptosses Rob out and follows with a corkscrew plancha. He comes off the top and hits railing, allowing RVD to get the guillotine legdrop and grab the ladder. Jeff meets with the railrunner and brings the ladder in himself, but takes it in the jaw. Rob straddles the ladder to pick it up, and takes it in the crotch. Hardy 1, RVD 0. Double-jump moonsault on the ladder follows, but a blind charge misses and Rob hangs him in the Tree of Woe and does bad stuff to him, like forcing him to watch those old matches from Shotgun in 98 where the Hardy Boyz were dressing like Bon Jovi and jobbing to Los Boriquas. Okay, he just kicks him in the face a bunch of times, but I think the former would be more painful. Rob puts Jeff on the ladder and somersaults across the ring onto it, and then spinkicks and superkicks Jeff to set up another guillotine legdrop, this time onto the ladder. Rob showboats outside and turns around to meet the ladder face-first, buying Jeff some time. Jeff climbs but gets dropkicked off. A cartwheel splash onto the ladder kills Jeff. Rob should have one of those gymnastics balls and a length of ribbon tied around his wrist to complete his ensemble. I mean, a friggin’ CARTWHEEL? He climbs, but gets dropkicked and falls off, wiping out both guys. Jeff DDTs him and goes up, but misses the swanton. ***** frog splash also misses. Jeff climbs again, RVD follows, and superplexes Jeff off the ladder. Rob goes back up, Jeff follows, and powerbombs him off the ladder. Jeff climbs again and grabs the belt, but Rob yanks the ladder away, leaving him swinging there. Missile dropkick fails to dislodge him, but Jeff eventually falls anyway, without the belt. Jeff goes back up, but Rob pushes him over (and hurt Jeff’s leg on the ropes from the looks of things), climbs up himself, and regains the title at 16:33. You could see they were trying to tone down the crazy spots a lot, but the result is a lacklustre, although still really good, ladder match. ****

Originally, I had it at 4 stars also, but then I figured that Austin/Angle is more than just 1/2* better, so I busted it down to 3.5.

Please, somebody go back and watch the Edge/Storm match and tell me I'm not crazy? It wasn't that great.

I watched it the other day...

Still ***1/4 like it was the day I first saw it.

***1/4 sounds about right. It's probably Lance Storm's best match in the WWF/WWE.

Guest Just call me Dan

I'm gonna say a solid *** on Edge/Storm. The opening 5 really soured me because Lance really did nothing but stomp and knee Edge for what seemed like forevere. the moves he used were nice, but few and far between. Edge kept countering him when he was able to catch his second wind, and a frustrated Storm goes for the kill. The tension was easily build when Christian made the run-in even when it eemed like Edge was in full control. He nearly cost Edge the match, but him taking a sacrificial superkick from Storm allowed Edge to recover and he continued his driving dominance that began around the 2/3 point of the match. Lance was about all out of moves in his arsenal, and Edge used his big gun in the end to seald the deal. Nice match with a good story, but I HATED the first few minutes. Well paced, minus the abdominal stretch, but Storm helped by clubbing him during that resthold. It built in pace well, I really can't see why this would be under *** unless you gave up from the start.
