Guest drdrainoscott Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Does anyone else get these? They are annoying pop up ads that pop up once about ever 30 minutes explaining the steps that need to be taken to delete those ads. Of course it wants you to buy a program to do so. Anyway, I've tried Ad-Aware and Pest Patrol and it ain't working. Anyone got any solutions? Scott

Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 For Windows 2000 and XP * Go to start and click Run * Type services.msc * Double-click on Messenger. * In the Messenger Properties window, select Stop, then choose Disable as the Startup Type. * Click OK. For Windows 95, 98, and ME * Under Control Panel, select Add/Remove. * Select Windows Setup. * Select System Tools. * Click Details. * Uncheck WinPopUp. * Click OK. Or for a simpler way, download Shoot the Messenger, a free 22k program which will shut Messenger down for you instantly.
Guest drdrainoscott Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 thanks, that did the trick! Scott
