Dallas Mavericks owner the target of Hogan’s efforts…

In an interesting story, there are rumors that Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart have been shopping the idea of the XWF to new investors with the hopes of getting the startup rolling again.

 

The primary target thusfar has reportedly been Mark Cuban, the energetic owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.

 

In addition to possibly running the promotion as a straight wrestling promotion with Hulk Hogan as the initial draw, Hart had a couple other ideas as well. One idea was to run a largely Hispanic crew of wrestlers in a lucha style promotion based out of the Southwest, and another idea was to mimic the Ultimo Dragon's Toureyman Japanese promotion which showcased handsome wrestlers to grab a female audience.

My thoughts on this:

1...Hogan can't draw anymore. And there's no one available that he can draw working with.

2...Cuban has better things to do with his time than invest in a crackpot wrestling promotion.

3...A lucha nased or "handsome wrestlers to grab a female audience" really isn't going to survive in America, especially on the national scale that they seem to be planning. At least Jimmy Hart is thinking outside the box

If he does a Lucha based one then he's going to have to slightly slow it down so it's not so sloppy to get American fans into it.

 

I love watching Lucha Libre on Saturdays, but man can it be sloppy. Some of the offense doesn't look like it could hurt a fly.

I'm just interested to see who they can assemble for a roster. If they're looking at lucha/Japan styles then no doubt they'll snag some foreign talent deals. They probably also still have an arrangement with Puerto Rico due to the "XWF Invasion" they ran over there. With TNA scooping up most of the indy big names, you know they won't let them work for another fed whose goal is to go national/compete.

The problem with this is, Hogan will be the spotlight of the fed. Noone will watch it for him.

Hasn't Cuban already done segments or something for OVW in the past? I swear he's "friends" with Kenny Bolin in storyline, though I could be wrong.

Zack, MLW uses the same talent TNA uses and they have a TV deal. ON DISH NETWORK AND DIRECTV AND IN FLORIDA. They should be more concerned with getting a TV deal. Man, if this was 1998 they could get one with TNN. The nashville network.

I see what you're saying about how TNA works with MLW though they have a TV Deal, though in retrospect, it's something similar to WWF loaning ECW talent. TNA most likely wouldn't loan Hogan's promotion talent as they'd be viewed as an equivalent rival that could cause competition. As good as MLW is, it's not known about widespread as TNA, while a promotion with Hogan surely would be.

TNA can't stop anyone from working elsewhere unless they are signed exclusively, and I don't think TNA is paying enough to put that in their contracts.

Most (ok, all) of NWA-TNA's contracts are for a certain amount of appearences (Sting for instane has a contract for 4 appearences) and are basically allowed to work anywhere else they want as long as they commit to the contracts.

 

Ok that really didn't make sense, but it's kind of hard to tell people that Independent Companies don't have binding contracts with wrestlers not allowing them to wrestle anywhere else.

 

Jeff Jarrett practically owns NWA (ok his dad doeS) but he still works other promotions.
