the very Depths Vince has sunk into

Recommended Posts

Guest Trivia247

Ok... now that Vince is gonna be picking on a One legged guy... This is the lowest so far he has sunk...

But How did it get this way?

What started this Downward Spiral through the 9 Planes of HELL

We all know the first event...

Montreal 1997 Survivor Series...

that was the first time Vince stepped out from being a On TV Announcer, and Promoter of the Company to being a On air Heel...

Jerking the scales to cause Bret to lose the title..

.

Now that maybe shitty to all the Hart fans out there, but at least that was wrestling oriented heelness. little low blowish but still in the realm of the ring.

McMahon then has his 2 year long feud with Austin Each time Vince just takes a step farther down..just a step..keeping himself within the wrestling oriented realm. But more and more developing into the evil Boss gone MAD!

Another focus of his mania was Mankind....when Mankind was given the Hardcore title was mean't to be a joke, but somehow that belt became important to the fans. When Mic got screwed at Survivor Series along with Austin... Vince decided to totally strip and destroy Mankind...even taking away the one trinket he had left..the Hardcore title which was lost to him by the Bossman with the help of Big Show.

Vince went sorta face went HHH went after Stephanie and the family...then Stephanie turned heel.... Vince leaves to be a genetic jackhammer leaving hHH and Steph in charge on air... (A Precursor to the hell we are in now)

Vince also forsakes his product by then starting the XFL.... the WWF at the time thrived because of the genius of McMahon's mind for years..but his need to expand to the Mainstream made him no longer have the firm grasp of his creativity.

2000 he made himself scarce through most of it...leaving the on air power being decided by commissionerships of Mick Foley, William Regal and the like.

then Late 2000 rolled around and McMahon came back..this time he went into In the interest of fairness stint where he made decisions that seem fair but truly isn't.

2001 He made his return, having a Affair with Trish Stratus and doing so.. Manipulated his wife.... then Overmedicated and sent her off to a institution. He and his daughter reveled in their evvvvvilness. Till Shane o Mac came back to deal with Dear or Dad. Prior to his WM match, Vince making those wonderful comments about Linda and Shane... At WM he brought down the seemingly doped Linda to watch him Beat down Shane...however Trish screwed out Vince and Linda was lucid...and Lowblowed Shane..giving him the opportunity to hit the Shane TERMINATOR

A short lived UNHOLY alliance occured between McMahon Austin and HHH. The three ran rimshot over the company over a course of three months before HHH went down tripping and tearing his QUAD (Boy it was a Beautiful day...) Austin remained loyally at Vince's side along with a new Sidekick...Kurt Angle... But Austin's personna changed to a mad Hugger... And a new idea was formed when McMahon went out and bought out WCW..and started the process of buying ECW... Intially it was the EVIL McMahon vs his Good wayward son who owned WCW.....however the crowd wasn't buying the angle especially when it became contradictory. Because even though Shane wanted his Promotion air time which maybe noble reasons...you had WWF wrestlers on TV saying that it was a true hardship on their family if their airtime is screwed away by WCW wrestlers... Plus the few debut WCW matches sucked we all thank Buffy Bagwell for that. New plan was an Alliance of Shane and Stephanie vs their Father in the WWF....with plans to Destroy the WWF...this turned the evil mastermind into a Face.....whom will protect his company no matter what. We know the results from this...

Then its the weird time in late 2001 to 2002

We got Vince returning to his heelness... He had few lackies... Booker T, Angle, Big Bossman (Now in a suit)

But he now has a new adversary asides Austin....

Ric Flair returns to the WWF and McMahon turns to pick on someone his own age.. However McMahon of course took his steps down and defamed the Flair legancy...even to Beat and bloody him in front of his Kids at Royal Rumble...even though he did lose.

This leads to a Roster split...... and yet ANOTHER EVVVILLL act. He Brought Back the nWo!! Dats right.... Scott "Wheres the shotglass" Hall, Kevin "Ouch I tripped" Nash and Hulk "Im a changed man, really" Hogan! well thats simply unforgiveable. After a few months of the nWo disassembly and reassembly.. so any times for such a short time you'd think your watching WCW on fast forward... McMahon then publically Killed the nWo forever. And after that... he did another EVIL OUTrageous thing..

He hired Eric Bischoff! nuff said there..

McMahon left again leaving the Roster split issues to be fought over by Steph and Bischoff....Until.....Hogan. Upon Hogan's return again.. Vince took it upon himself to get involved in Hogan's Last Feud.... the feud however seemingly went beyond mere wrestling as the two men aired the whole steroid trial case on Smackdown in a promo! Vince took on Hogan in a pitiful WM match... bringing back the Rowdy one for... what two three months himself? Of course Hogan leaves, returns as Mr. America....warping and dirtying the stupid angle even more.... until. enter Zack! Intially Zack was just a pawn used by McMahon to get under Hogan...but because of Hogan's ego and his sudden departure with the WWE.. The Pawn became the new focus of attention..... the support system for Zack was then transfered to Stephanie...so how do they cause a feud between Steph and Vince??? Start a angle where its revealed that Vince actually offered stephanie at 17 to Business partners to Seal the deals.... (Hmmm wonder if Donald Trump got some for having WM 4 and 5 at his plaza) What a horrid idea that is...Now Vince bounces around with Sable...While he Revels in his Feud with Zack...absoluting trashing the One legged wrestler and basically wants to destroy him because Nature should have killed him off when he was born..

So there you have it... a Incomplete Biopic on How Vince McMahon went from a On Air ANnouncer to Unspoken Chairman of the WWF, to HEEL Promoter, to Mad Boss, to Genetic Jackhammer, To evil alliances...to Wife Abuser...to Pimp of his little girl to.. Son beater...to Legend Squasher...to the Handicap Killer...

Wonder if he'll be a special exhibit on the tour of the Fire pits?

The Failure of the XFL is generally linked to Vince's current mental state (or lack thereof)

RRR beat me to it. The XFL hurt Vince a lot, since he wanted to succeed outside of wrestling so badly, and he became the laughing stock of big business.

After that, he was never the same...

"Humanity" & "Vince McMahon" fit about as well as Mark Henry into a microwave.

He started going down, creatively, as soon as Shane stepped into that ring in Panama City. & if his claims of abuse & such as a youth have any weight, then there's your answer for his human side.

The day Vince went overboard was the day he saw "Any Given Sunday" and said "I can do this"

So how far into insanity will he fall when his WWE Films enterprise flops?

That would make what:

WBF

XFL

WWE Films.

After that someone needs to step in for his own good and stop him from anymore non-wrestling ventures.

There's actually more failures than that, just not on such a public level.

Had McMahon stuck his mind in wrestling the WWE would be so successful still that he wouldn't need those main stream ventures...millions of people watched it like it was Main stream. hell back in the 80's people got dressed up just to go to wrestling events.

I pinpoint one incident that absolutely fucking disgusted me to the point of near-nausea.

The sewage bath that he and his scummy daughter gave to Trish Stratus. One of the single most revolting occurances in a federation that has seen JR's asshole being lit on fire and HHH humping a corpse.

Yes, that is another great one.

Has their ever been a classy McMahon moment on TV? Christ, their 9/11 tribute had to have steroid trial and terrorist connection thrown in.

If I had to pin point it I'd say it was the day after No Way Out 2000. When Vince came out to help the Rock beat the Big Show cold clocking Triple H effortlessly on the way. Vince heard that arena EXPLODE when he came out, a reaction for himself he'd never EVER heard before. After that Vinceamania has grown like cancer.

I was mentioning in the WM 30 thread that there was a point in early 2001 where Vince started aging crazy fast, and he also went insane. His voice kind of wore out and he began using his promo voice more and more. I think the guy's backstage personality must have wacked out a bit too.

I've tried to pinpoint exactly when this happened and I concluded it started with the "the fate of WCW is in my hands" speech.

The whole Vince/Trish thing is where he officially lost it in my book.

Let's review, shall we?

- Made Trish bark like a dog while crawling around in her underwear

- Made out with Trish in front of his comatose wife (with a completely unnecessary closeup)

- "I'll never ever forgive your mother for giving birth to you!"

- Drowning Trish in slop

- Vince realizing he can create storylines that allow him to make out with various wwe divas

- Booking himself vs. Shane as a big matchup at WM (although in fairness it was a good match), starting a spiral of McMahons booking themselves in main event feuds for their own amusment instead of for audience reaction

Did I miss anything?

I first thought he went off the deep end around his return to TV in 2000 and the failure of the XFL.

The three ran rimshot over the company over a course of three months before ...

Am I the only one who finds this incredibly funny?

Ran rimshot?!?

Which has the distinction of being the one angle / skit in wrestling that has truly offended me as a viewer. I actually did make a conscious decision to stop watching the WWF at that point. And I stuck to it for about a month.

And what made it worse (and truly offensive) was Trish's lack of revenge. I mean, I could've tolerated a sexual harrassment/abuse angle with a boss exploiting his power to fire someone in order to "control" a subordinate female employee... IF she were able to "get him back" by, as happened in my fantasy booking, she sued the shit out of him for Sexual Harrassment and got control/ownership of a significant chunk of the company.

Instead, she slapped him -- once! -- during the match at Wrestlemania, and I don't think it even lead to a near-fall (much less a full 3 count fall). OOOOH, wow, you sure showed him. [/sarcasm]

There wasn't even a voice of outrage from the broadcast booth. Not that I expect objective journalism from WWE broadcasters or writers, but it'd be nice to at least try and simulate by having Jim Ross rail about the blatant unfairness of Vince getting away with blatant sexual harrassment of poor Trish Stratus. But no, none of J.R.s famous righteous indignation, ergo, tacit approval/acceptance of Vince's actions.

The degrading of Trish Stratus was not even dignified by taking its proper place as a major portion of reasons to hate heel Vince during that period. Yeah, the stuff with Linda made for a nice and reprehensible character, but the Trish stuff should NOT have been swept under the rug and brushed off as "nothing."

And that's what REALLY offended me.

Remember when Austin was feuding with Booker/Vince? They were sitting in a skybox when the food they were eating caught on fire. Firemen came to the rescue. But Vince wasn't happy. He said the firemen were "worse than the police." Where did this happen? Why, New York City. And keep in mind this wasn't very long after 9/11.

THAT offended me.

Still I think something happened to Vince after that segment tha gave him a mad ego boost and cause him to degenerate into the ridiculous character he is today. It stopped being about the fans and became more about Vince.

Wrestlemania 2000. A McMahon in every corner. They made that out to be the drawing point of the PPV instead of the fact that the number one heel was facing the number one babyface. That goes back to helping The Rock win a shot at Wrestlemania as well. When Vince came back and cold cocked Shano, the whole place went nuts. Vince of course assumed that they were cheering for him, and not the fact that he just came out to save his top babyface. Oh, and stunt Granny, Vader is still alive.
