Guest goodhelmet Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 i dont think the lakers would get past dallas or sacramento without kobe. kobe is their x-factor against those two. san antonio wont be in the picture next year. as long as the spurs have tim duncan, the spurs will remain in the picture. as duncan goes, so do the spurs. as for the whole kobe case... i could see it both ways. if the woman is spreading false accusations and she loses the case, it wouldn't surprise me. if kobe is convicted, that wouldn't surprise me either. there are examples of morally corrupt money chasing women and morally corrupt mightier-than-thou athletes to support both sides. the moment i saw oj driving down the road, running from the cops in his bronco, i lost my faith in superstars... well except for david robinson. when 50 gets accused of fraud, drug possession, rape, gambling, etc. ONLY THEN will i be shocked.
Guest Brush with Greatness Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 The other part of the story that irks me is that they tried to cover up the chick's OD and when they refuse to comment on it and act as if it's totally immaterial whereas if Kobe is anything but 100% transparent it's seen as all but an admission of guilt and he's totally condemned. Well, since rape trials aren't supposed to be about putting the victim on trial I can see how someone who was possibly raped would be offended by all of this smearing of them. Not to mention it is totally immaterial in the sense that if she was raped her OD has no bearing either way. On top of this, the family has replied with a no comment response to almost all questions, not just the ones regarding the supposed OD. It's strange, for someone who is accused of being in this for the fame and fortune, the victim is staying fairly reclusive.

The quote was something like, "Mr. Bryant may have a lot of money, but not as much as the state of Colorado." You know what that means.........
