Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Juan doesn't want to play on a contender like KC because he doesn't want the pressure. Suck my dick, you pussy. Just go home. If you don't want to play with a contending team, then just go home and allow for the Rangers to concentrate on the future and not your fickle nature. It's time to get tough on Juan. If he doesn't accept a trade by the deadline. Just tell him to go home. If he doesn't want to leave and play for somebody else, he can go home and play for nobody. Juan, if you can't handle pressure, you should retire right now. The Rangers can finish last without you.

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Tim Kurkjian just reported on ESPN news that Juan Gonzalez was balking at going to the Royals because "the pennant race would put added pressure on him". Pressure is also his reason to keep out of pinstripes. If this is based in reality, then it is a very bad sign. But refusing trades and thwarting your team's future is the wrong thing to do. If he comes to Kansas City, then, good, but he won't have alot of room to fuck things up here. I just don't like his attitude. He's too fickle.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Did Kurjikan talk to Gonzalez personally? Was this an offhand remark in conversation, or did he say it at a press conference? And who used the word "balking" in the first place? What was Gonzalez' exact quote? Just because a tv analyst says something on tv doesn't mean its gospel. Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 but with Gonzalez's reluctance, this is believable. The problem with this whole thing is that Gonzalez seems to like changing his mind alot. Mention that to the agents he's fired. Gonzalez might turn down a trade tomorrow. He might accept it. he might insist he wants to stay in the AL, or he could change. Gonzalez's attitude is just.. odd.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Who knows what's going through his head. The only thing I've gathered is that he doesn't want to be a three month rental.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 That insistance on a new contract is another problem. Who would give in to those terms? not KC.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Wow. Just wow. At least this is good news for the Royals -- would you WANT this kind of guy on your team?...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 19, 2003 You mean his ability to drive in Runs which is CRUCIAL to the element of the game of baseball? Yeah WHO would want THAT?

Kurjikan isn't as bad as Gammons in terms of making shit up and it's not like he's some no name from the press, he's pretty well known and works for the worldwide leader in sports. If we can't consider news from people like them trustworthy, then there's no news that we can believe. I mean, how often do the atheletes themselves really go on record with anything. Guest Smues Report post Posted July 19, 2003 The guy doesn't want to be trade. I do believe that is the POINT of a no-trade clause. If the clause was given to him in his contract then it's his right to refuse trade.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 (edited) Gonzalez left a game early limping after running to third (he was hit by a pitch) Go figure, he's either hurt or faking it to avoid a trade, unless he got hit in the leg. If you're hit in the back, you usually don't limp as a result Edited July 20, 2003 by Rob E Dangerously
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 20, 2003 Gonzalez once glared up at the official scorer when he ruled, Gonzalez reached on an error and not a hit.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2003 I just realized that this must be part of some weird scheme. If Gonzalez goes onto the DL for 15 days, the Rangers can't trade him in the first place. You can't trade players on the DL. I'm sure he just screwed something up on the puke-turf in Tampa Bay
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 20, 2003 Did you see that catch Beltran made tonight? Very Hunteresque.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 20, 2003 You mean his ability to drive in Runs which is CRUCIAL to the element of the game of baseball? Yeah WHO would want THAT? The ability to drive in runs on a last-place team is one thing. The ability to drive in runs in the midst of a playoff atmosphere is something totally different. Having grown up in Pittsburgh in the early 1990's watching Barry Bonds, I can attest that there is a difference between the two abilities. Seems like Juan is just in it for the paycheck -- and with what he's earning, who can blame him?...
