Unless there's a purpose for it in the narrative (e.g. Leonard's memory disorder), time displacement is either really confusing for no apparent reason (e.g. Christopher Nolan's Following, which I actually like a little better than Memento simply because I still have trouble figuring out what's going on), or really gimmicky ("Watching Ellie", anyone?). I've never heard of the film before, but with a recommendation like "whoa - dude! this movie was something else! i saw it at the CMU (carnegie mellon univ.) premiere...definately worth watching. it was like an experience all on its own =) haha. k, peace out." how could I not want to see it?! It's even got Patrick Swayze in it.
