Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Oh god. These change constantly...and the album list is really the only one I can reasonably do without having a music fan's nervous breakdown. So that's all you're getting. Albums 1. Prince - Purple Rain 2. The Beatles - Abbey Road 3. U2 - Achtung Baby 4. The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street 5. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 6. U2 - The Joshua Tree 7. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico 8. Prince - Sign o' the Times 9. Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West 10. Tool - Lateralus And there's probably about another 25-30 albums that I hold in nearly the same esteem as these. ...I like lists.

Guest Evolution Report post Posted July 19, 2003 To preface this, my music taste is viewed as "pretty awful" in the minds of others. Also, I don't try to find messages in most songs. I just listen to the music and enjoy it. Artists/Bands: 1) Metallica (yes, all of Metallica. Even some stuff from St. Anger is good) 2) System of a Down (you can hear the taste in music crashing and burning here) 3) Nickelback 4) Pinmonkey 5) Red Hot Chili Peppers 6) Rage Against The Machine 7) Diamond Rio 8) Eminem 9) Bloodhound Gang 10) Stephen Lynch (no, seriously) Songs are too hard to do, and I've never OWNED 10 albums that I've generally liked. I know, I need to expand my music taste. I'd download stuff that people recommend to me, but, you know, don't want to get assraped by the RIAA.
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Duran now rules for putting Stephen Lynch on a top 10 list. That's some great shit.

I might swap a few around here and there, but this top-10 is almost set in stone. Artists: 1) Pink Floyd 2) The Clash 3) The Tea Party 4) Faith No More 5) Rush 6) Led Zeppelin 7) The Eagles 8) Opeth 9) Type O Negative 10) Deep Purple Favorite artists top-10 for this month. It fluxes as I listen to more and more music. Although, there's a couple on there that'll never stop being favorites. -Z
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted July 20, 2003 I can't possibly do anything close to a top ten of anything without taking 24 hours and having a meltdown in front of everyone, but... I'll try. ALL of these are subject to change. Usually my top 3 in each are set in stone (it's the same with movies,) but meh. Also, you'll have to excuse the absence of any Led Zeppelin albums, because I listen to them in "Best Of's," online, or with my only album of their's -- Led Zeppelin 3. I'm sure two or three of their albums would place if I actually had them. Songs: 1.) The Velvet Underground -- Heroin 2.) The Pixies -- Gigantic 3.) U2 -- Acrobat 4.) Pink Floyd -- Wish You Were Here 5.) OK, nevermind, I had a meltdown at #5... uh, ah well.

Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 20, 2003 Edwin: I totally mark for Tom Waits singing Downtown Train. I go to a bar with a digital jukebox and I got them to put that and Cold, Cold Ground on it. It's one of his most accessible songs from his Island period, and just plain one of the best songs he ever wrote. I don't know if I've ever heard a song with as much flat-out yearning as Waits' gruff bark on the original. And, like I said, my list of songs would be different already. CCR's "Someday Never Comes" would be on there. MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC.
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted July 20, 2003 Eh, Edwin cheated with the "Top Artists," not having an order and all... but uh, I'll do the same! And strangely enough, our tastes are terribly similar. The Pixies U2 The Velvet Underground (or anything Lou Reed, for that matter) Prince and the Revolution or any other band that he ruled the school with The Clash Red Hot Chili Peppers The Beatles Led Zeppelin Queen AC/DC Faith No More, Rush, and Tool could all make it on here eventually, but I'm just getting into them. Guest Beezel Report post Posted July 20, 2003 I would love to add to this, but then I would expose myself. Even if there are no ladies present, I doubt you want to see that anyway. Having said that, I can deal with the entire Punk, Ska, and Hardcore set of music. I've been known to listen to black and death metal, but can barely distinguish between them. I also have a soft spot in my heart for anything with female vocals, so Evanescense (spelling?) has climbed my charts very quickly of late.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted July 20, 2003 Beezel, check out Lacuna Coil, the band that Evanescense are a Nu Metal rip off of. Lacuna Coil, bring you better music, better female vocals and a fitter singer.
