Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 20, 2003 My power was cut off on Friday by Georgia power. (I blame Dames somehow) Here is the deal. I have paid for every single watt of electricity that has come through my apartment. The only remaining balance on the account is a "deposit" that they added to the account. This deposit, According to them, was added because of me having past late payments. The problem is, nowhere in the service agreement or nowhere on their website or on my bills is this policy mentioned. They say that they sent a letter that I mysteriously never recieved. My question is, can they legally charge me this deposit if there is no documentation anywhere that is available for the customers. They say that they are covered due to this letter that they send out. I am a online customer that doesn't recieve mail from them, therefore I wouldn't be expecting anything from them. Is there anyway I can get out of this payment. I have the money, it is just the principle of the whole thing. Don't they legally have to let the customer know about any and ALL policies that they have concerning their billing. And Dames, I think this is just the warm up for my annual birthday ing...I blame you and your bad luck.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 20, 2003 You could probably fight the good fight, but depending on how much the deposit is I might just bend over and take this one. Just for the heck of it, I just went on Georgia Power's Web site. I found this line in an Acrobat file http://www.southerncompany.com/gapower/pri...f/TOU-REO-2.pdf "Service hereunder subject to rules and regulations for Electric Service on file with the Georgia Public Service Commission." Here's another line that may apply to you -- I don't know how late your payments were: http://www.southerncompany.com/gapower/pri...f/section-e.pdf I also went to the Georgia Public Service Commission http://www.psc.state.ga.us/ and found this page that might help you. I don't know if you're bill is for natural gas as well...: http://www.psc.state.ga.us/consumer_corner/faq.htm
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Although I KNOW I could win this, my mother put it best, don't try to fight those who cut your check or can cut your power. I feel disgusted having to pay this bill...but not as bad as having to take ice cold showers, and not having ANY food.
