Guest JebusNassedar Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 ...Zakk Wylde? I, personally, dont understand the appeal, there. I heard two songs, and he came off as a generic metal singer-guitarist. Dont remember then ames, but one was on Launch. Maybe I just got bad picks, but could someone please explain this?
Guest Doyo Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 He is appreciated mostly for his guitar work. His BLS albums are just straight out hard rock/metal instead of going with the latest trends, so he gets respect for that.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 it's all about the squeal.
Guest Steviekick Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 They have really good guitar parts. That's why I'm into BLS.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 You know how Eddie Van Halen is known as being a good guitarist simply for innovating two-hand picking? Zakk Wylde blows Eddie out of the fucking water. For one thing, his songs are, ya know, VARIED (heard two Roth-era Van Halen, the REAL Van Halen, songs, heard 'em all). Wylde is to pinch harmonics what Eddie is to two-hand tapping, Iommi is to two-fingered, and what Paige is to pentatonic scales. And it doesn't hurt that the man is wicked badass, plays beautiful solo's, and is also Ozzy's HAND-CHOSEN replacement for the late great Randy Rhoades.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Ehh, I've always thought Zakk Wylde was vastly overrated. Everything he plays is "Riff riff KWAAAA riff riff KWAAAA riff riff KWAAA" Gets old after a while.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 but i like the kwa. sorry, KWAAAA~. You can listen to any BLS song with a bunch of friends and go "wait for it....waiiiit for it....KWAAAA". good stuff.
Guest Random Hero Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 As well as being an awesome guitarist, a lot of people seem to like him cos he's a mans man- Big bearded, foul languaged, bad-ass...
Guest Choken One Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Well...Shit then I am an MAN'S MAN with those descriptions motherfucker.
Guest HungryJack Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I think it's pretty fair to say Zakk Wylde > Choken .
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I'm not the biggest fan in the world of BLS, but Zakk Wylde is a vastly talented individual. They're one of the only bands around right now that are actually playing straight-up whiskey heavy metal. The guy writes incredibly catchy riffs, does too many false harmonics, but makes up for repetition in other ways, and is a halfway decent vocalist. They're definitely very good, but by no means one of my favorites.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 'HE'S A MAAAAAAAN..SUCH A MAAAAAAAAN...'
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I'd love to see Zakk come out to that song when coming on stage... Jebus, just buy the album 1919 Eternal by BLS. By far their best effort. I haven't listened to The Blessed Hellride fully yet, but it doesn't feel as "complete" as 1919 Eternal did. Just listen to the album, and then you'll be like "whoa, Zakk Wylde's fucking awesome."
Guest Random Hero Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Or just download 'Bleed For Me' for a small example of how much they rule...
Guest JebusNassedar Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Wow. People actually responded. *cough* Thanks for the help. I'll check out the 1919 thing the next time I successfully bug Dave into taking me to Tower.
