Guest JangoFett4Hire Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Man, last week it was jerking off. This week it's eating pizza. I am the healthiest man on the face of the earth. Can eating pizza cut cancer risk? By Reuters, 7/21/2003 ROME -- Gorging pizza could help reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer -- Italian scientists say. In a twist to the accepted medical wisdom that food you really enjoy tends to be bad for you, researchers at a Milan pharmacology center found that eating one or more pizzas a week dramatically reduced the incidence of some types of cancer. A study of 8,000 Italians found that regular pizza-eaters were 59 percent less likely to contract cancer of the esophagus, while the risk of developing cancer of the colon fell by 26 percent. "We knew that tomato sauce was protective against certain tumors, but we certainly didn't expect that pizza as a whole would provide such strong protection," researcher Silvano Gallus told Sunday's La Repubblica newspaper.
Guest Ripper Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Why do I get the feeling that the Porno industry was behind the masturbation study now that a Italian study says this. next week, we learn that those little Direct TV causes cancer...in a study brought to you by that cable company.
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Don't all of us already know that ANYTHING and EVERYTHING can both cause and prevent practically every kind of cancer?
Guest Ripper Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I did hear that having two names that start with the letter R in your username on a message board helps prevent cancer. You are a lucky bastard Retro Rob. All you have to do is jerk off while eating pizza while posting and you are canca free, buddy.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Great- I'm cancer free with clogged arteries.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 Why do I get the feeling that the Porno industry was behind the masturbation study now that a Italian study says this. Actually, this wouldn't necessarily be true, since IIRC, isn't the traditional "Italian" pizza a lot different than the standard "American" pizza? I can see how that would be healthier...but most American pizzas are really greasy and full of lots of extra fatty toppings. I always thought "Italian pizza" was really minimalist - thin layer of bread, tomato sauce, cheese, and maybe some vegetables and olive oil, without meat even being included most of the time. That would make sense in preventing cancer as that's actually fairly healthy. But regardless, Retro Rob's right - everything causes cancer and everything prevents it. Breathe the air, get cancer; masturbate, prevent cancer. Smoke, get cancer; eat some fancy vitamin supplements, prevent cancer. Use the microwave too much, get cancer; eat the pizza that you cooked in the microwave so much, prevent cancer. So...cheers?
Guest The Czech Republic Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 This just in: buying pizza from family-owned pizzerias greatly reduces the chances of getting your kneecaps busted.
Guest Brian Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 Traditional margharitas and Marinaras are even more minimalist, with a thin crusted dough cooked in a furnace, with just tomatoes, basil, mozarella, and maybe olive oil. Colors of the flag. I forget the difference between the two.
