Guest pochorenella Report post Posted March 31, 2002 Several Eddie Van Halen solos, like "Dreams", "Right Now", Michael Jackson's "Beat It". Dokken's "In My Dreams" by George Lynch. Ozzy Osbourne's "Mr. Crowley" by Randy Rhoads. I'll think of some more later. Peace.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted March 31, 2002 You know, they're really low-key in comparison to a lot of virtuosic stuff that's been listed here, but I really dig a lot of Jerry Cantrell's stuff for Alice in Chains, like "Nutshell." And then there's Hendrix.

Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Burton's solo ruled, that is true. A few I missed: "Green Grass And High Tides" - The Outlaws "Wayward Son" - Kansas "Strong Enough To Be Gentle" - Black Oak Arkansas "Insanity" - Unjust Treatment
Guest Eric the Eagle Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Chris Oliva on _any_ old Savatage album, maybe especially on "When the Crowds are Gone" is among the most emotional ever recorded. Chris Caffery (his replacement) is the only guy I've heard who can match it. Also, Virgin Steele's guitarist (whose name escapes me at the moment) is absolutely bloody fabulous... I Suggest "Perfect Mansions"...
Guest Report post Posted April 2, 2002 I like Eric Clapton's "Layla" and Slash's "Sweet Child O' Mine". Slash is da' fuckin' man.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Sweet Child O' Mine, definetly. You can't go wrong with Led Zep solos.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Eruption by Eddie Van Halen. The ultimate shred solo.
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Eruption by Eddie Van Halen. The ultimate shred solo How could I forget the mighty "Eruption"? Anyone remember the solos from "I Remember You" from Skid Row ( I'm not sure if it's Snake Sabo doing it) and Cinderella's "Don't Know What You Got..." by Tom Keifer? Maybe not too technically sound but filled with passion and emotion, for sure. That also makes a solo great. Peace.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted April 3, 2002 I think calling it the "ultimate" anything is a little overdone... Slash has done better at shredding on several occasions...
Guest ZGangsta Report post Posted April 3, 2002 "One" - Metallica "Leyla" - Clapton "Wayward Son" - Kansas "The Fly" - U2 And I know it's not a solo (3 guitars), but "Fucking in the Bushes" by Oasis is one hell of an awesome guitar song.
Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2002 Forgot one. Bron-y-aur - Led Zeppelin
Guest Captian Linger Report post Posted April 4, 2002 FREE BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe no one noted this one. Way ahead of its time for hard hitting, super fast and long heavy guitar solos. You'll find it there...
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted April 5, 2002 Roar! "Freebird" is ok but "Green Grass And High Tides" puts it to shame! ROAR I SAID.
Guest WildPegasusXXII Report post Posted April 6, 2002 "Purple Haze" - Jimi Hendrix "Foxy Lady" - Jimi Hendrix "All Along The Watch Tower" - Jimi Hendrix if you're gonna pull out Hendrix solos, as overblown as this one may be, you've gotta mention the woodstock Star Spangled Banner. I'll add: Soulshine (any Gov't Mule version-Warren Haynes) Lenny (SRV) Crossroads (Clapton) Sunshine of Your Love (i think the solo is Clapton) Iron Man (end solo after the drum breakdown) too many more to think of
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Slash is da' fuckin' man. That is one comment I just CANNOT argue with. Slash is my favorite guiartist... so yeah. Anyhow, no one has mentioned in Bruce Dickinson's "Tears of the Dragon" there is an AWESOME solo in that.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Sweet Child O' Mine "Bark at the Moon" - Ozzy "Holy Wars" - Megadeth (Dave Mustaine's cool fast one towards the end of the song) more as I think of them...
