multiple computer problems

Recommended Posts

Guest Prototype450

I am having some odd problems with my computer. First when i do the ctrl alt del thing in xp to bring up my cpu usage and stuff there it doesnt show how much of my cpu is being used at the bottom and and windows task launcher doesnt show up in the task bar like it used to like a week ago. And then whenever i try to open a music file in windows media player or winamp the songs all skip even though im not running a lot of applications and then windows media player wont let me burn all the songs on my cd. It will only put like half the songs on the cd and then it will say "songs cannot be copied to disc" or some shit like that. If anyone can help me i would really appreciate it because i really want this computer to work so i wont have to shell out money to get it fixed before college.

go start-run-type "msconfig" (without quotes)

click the startup tab and uncheck anything you don't need to load at startup (more you uncheck the better) - click OK

go start-programs-accesories-system tools-disk cleanup

Check "Temporary Setup Files", "Temporary Internet Files", "Old Chkdsk Files", "Recycle Bin", "Temporary Files", and if you upgraded from Windows 98 or ME (assuming you won't go back to 98/ME) "Windows 98 backup files", and click OK

Restart your computer.

Any better?
