Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted July 22, 2003 From WC.com burning hammer Member Member # 2074 posted 07-22-2003 02:39 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Stacy, Stacy, Stacy" I met her tonight. Not exactly an epic encounter, I was simply introduced then got to chat for maybe a minute or two before moving on but it was still nice. She's every bit as gracious as she is beautiful (very) and generally just seemed to be completely without guile. This took place backstage at Raw at the Staples center and I probably should've taken notes so I could give you a real feel for what that was like but I didn't so this'll probably be short. I walked in about 4:30 p.m. (PT) or so and immediately went to ringside where Vince McMahon was walking Kane and the guys who were playing security guards step by step through Kane's entrance later that night. In the ring behind them Sean Morley and Randy Orton were talking over their match. They weren't practicing moves or anything, just sort of walking through it in street clothes, occasionally pantomiming bits of action. We sat ringside watching this for a few minutes and I gotta tell you I was already fast entering kid in candy store mode. Next we walked backstage and it was a whirlwind of activity. As we passed through the halls we seemingly saw every member of the Raw roster. There's Ric Flair and Triple H sitting together talking and laughing, Spike Dudley is sitting by himself and watching the Velocity matches on a monitor, Stephanie McMahon calls Chris Jericho over for a quick confab, Steve Austin is talking **** and cracking up the ladies who do the mending and alterations for the wrestlers ring attire, RVD is stretching out, Michael Hayes and Arn Anderson are huddled at a table, Eric Bischoff is facing a wall and looks as if he's talking to himself ... nope, that's a script he's holding - just practicing his lines. After the Stacy encounter, ended up talking with Shane "Hurricane" Helms for about 15 minutes. Easily the longest conversation I've ever had with someone dressed up as a superhero (yep, he was even wearing the mask). Really genuine, down-to-earth kind of guy. The show itself seemed to be going nowhere until the Michaels-Jericho match which got the kind of time normally reserved for PPV matches and really seemed to capture the crowd's imagination. I have to say I was shocked when Linda took the tombstone to end the show. Guess I kept thinking that Austin would make the save. Oh yeah, and the pyro was deafening where we were sitting (right near the ramp). Backstage again after the show ended. Probably spent about 20-30 minutes just soaking it up as the various wrestlers walked by and the crew began tearing down and loading up for the next city. Was introduced to Tony Garea at this point and he was a true gentleman. You could see that he was clearly still passionate about the game as we talked about the Michaels-Jericho match and the way they went about telling their story. It made me smile and think of this board when he started explaining the beauty of working a headlock and how you can still use something that simple to get the crowd going. A few minutes later I allowed myself a brief burst of fandom as Sgt. Slaughter walked by. "Sarge!" When he turned around I went over and shook his hand and immediately started rambling about his MSG boot camp match with the Iron Sheik (a favorite from my childhood). He actually seemed genuinely tickled by my enthusiasm and we ended up talking for a few minutes. Turns out he's never personally even seen the match. Anyway, those are a few of the highlights of my backstage adventure. After watching wrestling for the past 20 years it was a thrill to take a peak behind the curtain and I can't say enough about the level of professionalism and general good cheer of everyone I was lucky enough to come in contact with. Here's hoping I'll be able to do it again sometime soon. p.s. Tamalie, she's even better looking in person ... and those legs!

Guest GameCop Report post Posted July 22, 2003 No, I'm not an idiot, Choken One. I'm just really tired and the word, "confab" isn't ringing any bells. Can someone please clarify its meaning. Thanks.

Guest mach7 Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Shook...Shake who cares... Hey, dude, no offense, but if you're going to call someone an idiot.. you should be prepared to illustrate that you're not one as well. That is, unless you're welcoming them into some Idiot Club, of which you are the president, or treasurer or something like that.
