Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I liked it. The show focused more on character development than the actual plastic surgery. As a fan of gory medical stuff that was kind of a let down, but the character's interaction with one another made up for it. I would have liked it better if they let Julian McMahon play his original character for a while and then down the road softened him up because I was really into him before the attack. Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 23, 2003 The show was billed as edgy and came with an MA-LSV rating, but I didn't think it was over the line. The T&A was on the level of what we see on Raw and SmackDown. The language didn't seem too bad, but I've become completely desensitized to obscene language and gestures, so maybe I didn't notice it. The violence wasn't horrible, unless you are someone who gets squeamish after seeing injections, especially in areas that shouldn't be getting a colagen injection. The blowup between the two partners shouldn't happen in the first episode. Ditto for the problems with his wife, kid, etc. All of these are things that should be built slowly and foreshadowed and then drop them on us to end the season. LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - FX's new boundary-smashing drama "Nip/Tuck" augmented the network's regular Tuesday night ratings, drawing a 3.2 household rating and over 3.7 million viewers in its July 22 debut. The plastic surgery program was the night's most watched cable program and is the top new series cable premiere of 2003. Overall, the "Nip/Tuck" opening incision ranks as the fifth most watched basic cable premiere in history. USA's "The Dead Zone" attracted 6.4 million deadheads when it first bowed, followed by another FX original, "The Shield," with had 4.8 million viewers when it first walked the beat. The first runs of USA's "Monk" and E!'s "The Anna Nicole Show" were the only other shows to do better than the Dylan Walsh/Julian McMahon starrer. "Clearly there is a tremendous amount of buzz about Nip/Tuck and we're excited about the ratings, the show's distinctive quality and its profile for network's brand," says Peter Liguori, the FX Networks president and CEO. "To now have two of the top five most watched series premieres ever on basic cable with 'Nip/Tuck' and 'The Shield' says a lot about the strides FX has made over the last two years."
