Don't Cave In Just Yet

Back in April we reported that Warner management, in an online chat, stated there were no plans to release Batman: The Animated Series in season set form (and no plans to release Superman: The Animated Seris on DVD at all). Reaction was immediate, even among members of the chat, who continued to pester Warner for season sets.

Well, Warner is listening! Jim Harvey at ToonZone.net has posted this information:

Announced during the Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman San Diego Comicon panel, expect DVD box sets for Batman: The Animated Series to hit shelves in the near future.

During the panel for Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, a Warner Bros. representative confirmed that Batman: The Animated Series, as well as Superman: The Animated Series, would be given box set treatments.

This is great news for fans of the cartoon, who have been largely disatisfied with the best-of releases. And you can thank Warner Brothers by picking up Mystery of the Batwoman on its upcoming release: since it wasn't part of the TV Series (it's a new direct-to-video release), you don't have to worry about buying it twice!

Certainly great news for any and all fans of the cartoon who were disapointed to see the single-disc releases, featuring five or less shows per disc. This news was especially helpful today, since I read it right before going to Best Buy, where I would have bought the new Batman disc if I hadn't read this news. I already own the first two volumes, the first I bought and the second one I recieved as a gift.

I think we can expect to see the season sets by late this year or early next year. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, although I STILL had trouble passing up the new disc today as I passed by it in the store. Clearly an indication of a great show.

YES!

Anyone want to buy the two DVDs I already bought?

YES! Two of my favorite shows coming to DVD in season sets! I couldn't be happier.

Great news. Know if they released some of the Marvel cartoons in box sets.

Does this include the Batman: Gotham Knights episodes/series as well?

EDIT: Nice pun with in the title, BC.
