Guest nWoScorpion Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Can't we all just get a long? Heal the World people. LOL
Guest CanadianChick Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Sorry, I don't get along with stupid people. I've tried, but it doesn't work.
Guest HungryJack Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 So birds of a feather DON'T flock together??? Ok, whoa, I'm kidding. I got no problem with you. But to say you don't insult posters, then insulting him, isn't sarcasm. It's either Irony, or stupidity . I'm not sure which.
Lil' Bitch Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 (edited) Can't we all just get a long? We can try, but its the very reason why we will never have world peace because there will always be differences of opinions. He just said that Shawn was a strong contender for the title. Only because he's booked that way. He's past his prime. He had his run last year which lasted only a month because everyone knows Shawn Michaels isn't in the best of health and can't carry a long title reign so I don't see the point of it happening again unless you want history to repeat itself. Sorry, I don't get along with stupid people There is a difference between stupid people and people with stupid opinions, you know. EDIT: Okay, so I'll admit I misread his post / jumped to conclusion, but I will repeat that I did not directly insult him meaning that I called him something less of a human being. That I have never done with other posters although others on here have done just that because of how the way I feel. Edited July 23, 2003 by Rico_Constantino
Guest CanadianChick Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Well, verbal irony is another word for sarcasm.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Sorry if I repeat something already said, but the thread got a bit, well gay. HBK is one of the best workers the WWE has. He can still work great matches and is entertaining. Now those were facts. His character has always come across as a prick. It's just funny to see "smarks" not like him because they say he's a prick.
Guest bravesfan Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 It's just funny to see "smarks" not like him because they say he's a prick. To argue whether he's a prick or not, is a worthless argument. People can choose to like him or hate him - I won't go out and attack them personally, just because I don't agree with their views. In my case, I can appreciate HBK's ring work, but choose to omit him from my "favorites" list due to his character prior to the major injury (both the perfomer and the human being himself).
Guest justsoyouknow Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Let me get this straight....Barron likes Regal...but hates HBK and Lance Storm...off the top of your head, name some good HBK matches. Off the top of your head, name some good Lance Storm matches. Now name some good Regal matches, where he actually clicked with his opponent. They're few and far between. HBK has paid his dues and put on some **** matches, most of which are remembered by marks and smarks alike. Regal is most well-remembered for a non-wrestling role.

Why does EVERYTHING have to be based on match quality? My favorites in this sport include people from Lex Luger... to Rick Rude...to HULK HOGAN. OMG CRUCIFY BARRON AND BRAVESFAN NOW!!!!! How about: --charisma? --promo quality? --ability to draw heat? --in-ring knowledge? --respect for his craft? --respect for younger workers and their development? Hmm, Regal seems to have THAT....yet Scott Keith won't give him *** in a match. OMG REGAL SUCX!!! Sometimes a star rating isn't the "end-all, be-all" for the universal taste of smarks.
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Sorry if I repeat something already said, but the thread got a bit, well gay. Yes, the thread got a bit, well homosexual. Idiot. HBK is one of the best workers the WWE has. He can still work great matches and is entertaining. I wouldn't say that. I'm not going to wish death upon the guy like other wastes of space have done, but he's certainly not one of their best workers. He was in his day, one of the top workers, but I doubt we'd be praising him as anything special if he weren't Shawn Michaels. He can work great matches when he chooses to and that's what's key. Shawn has been able to work some great matches when he has felt like it, otherwise his matches have suffered because of it. He simply doesn't wrestle often enough to even be considered one of the best workers and personally, I don't even really consider him to be an active superstar, but rather, a special attraction. As for the character itself, I don't find him to be the least bit entertaining, and that's coming from a huge former HBK fan. His face character has ALWAYS been bland in my eyes, never even coming close to his heel persona. The guy's a dick through and through which is why his heel character was just money. I'll take Shawn 1992-1994 over Shawn during any face run since.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Yes, the thread got a bit, well homosexual. Idiot. What was that supposed to mean? Just wondering.
Guest bravesfan Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Yes, the thread got a bit, well homosexual. Idiot. What was that supposed to mean? Just wondering. Use ghey instead of gay. There have been numerous discussions of this by a few of the posters, but I don't blame you if you haven't caught wind of it.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I don't know Rico very well, but... Is he as ghey as that dancing Spider-Man Shit? I hate it, especially the song.

Or you could just use neither one and use one of the many other words that would work in the context you were looking for. I know that "ghey" or even "gay" in this day and age can just mean "stupid" or something to that affect, but I find that it's thrown out there too often. There's plenty of other words to describe what you meant and most of them could have done it better than the word you did choose to use.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 --charisma? --promo quality? --ability to draw heat? --in-ring knowledge? --respect for his craft? --respect for younger workers and their development? Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Now name some good Regal matches, where he actually clicked with his opponent. They're few and far between. Yeah, If you have only seen him in WWE. Oh, and how is HBK a better promo than Regal? Oh, and Regal has never, ever cut a promo anywhere near as bad as that "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW World Heavyweight Champion" one than HBK did. Don't make me bust out that list of reasons why Regal rules! Don't make me do it!
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 --charisma? --promo quality? --ability to draw heat? --in-ring knowledge? --respect for his craft? --respect for younger workers and their development? Hmm, Regal seems to have THAT....yet Scott Keith won't give him *** in a match. HBK has Regal beat in all those areas dude. It's not a fucking competition though. The point is that not all wrestlers are great in the ring, but they have other qualities that make them worth watching. Also, I didn't know that HBK cares more about the development of younger talent than Regal or Storm do. Thanks for the enlightenment. BTW, Rico, that was sarcasm

HBK only taught those guys because he thought he was out the of the business. As soon as the possibility came for a return he ditched the school and that was back in 2001 IIRC. Rudy Boy Gonzalez took it over at this point.

Guest bob_barron Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Barron likes Regal Yes but hates HBK With a passion and Lance Storm I don't hate Lance Storm off the top of your head, name some good HBK matches. If you can show me where I ever claimed HBK was a bad worker- please do. Off the top of your head, name some good Lance Storm matches. Ummm he had a good match v. Edge once. That's all I can think of. Now name some good Regal matches, where he actually clicked with his opponent. Do you mean WWE or all time? Because if you mean throughout his career- I can name you a long list. They're few and far between. Not during his career prime or his glorious days in WCW HBK has paid his dues and put on some **** matches So has Regal. Regal is most well-remembered for a non-wrestling role. Because he was great at it- no shame in that
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I agree with Barron. Regal has had great matches with Hashimoto, Flair, Sting, Arn, Austin, Finlay and absolute fucking stunningly brilliant matches with Benoit. Regal is a great promo, has some of the best facial expressions in wrestling and is an all round nice fellow. Regal rules~!
Guest KanadianKrusty Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I agree with Barron. Regal has had great matches with Hashimoto blaaaaaablablablablablabla WHAT? When? where? uh?, me wants tape!
Guest bob_barron Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 There are two Regal v. Hashimoto matches on wrestletapes.net- The Best of Steven William Regal
Guest SP-1 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I'm probably one of the biggest HBK marks on the board, and I like him for various reasons. But not even I would go so far as to say he's one of the best currently. Once upon a time, Shawn Michaels had a nice combination of ringwork, charisma, and he could work a crowd. He still has those qualities as far as I'm concerned, but there are quite a few people on the current WWE roster that can do it better. Kurt Angle, for starters. The Rock also immediately comes to mind. Chris Jericho too. But flaming anyone who enjoys HBK is just as stupid as anyone flaming someone who likes William Regal. Forming a negative opinion on a poster simply because of who they're a fan of is more retarded than most of the other flaming that goes on around here. If it works for them, it works for them. If it works for you, it works for you. Simple as that.
Guest Fallen Angel Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 You know what I love? When opinions are passed off as fact. That's just the absolute pinnacle of great debate. Some of you are making valid points, true. But some of you need to get an education, common sense, or both, and then come back.
Guest Korgath Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Some of you are making valid points, true. But some of you need to get an education, common sense, or both, and then come back. Maybe you need to take your own advice. I'll admit I mark out for HBK. I didn't like the whole "born-again" schtick he's been throwing around recently, but I can't ignore the fact that Bible-toting or not, HBK is HBK. I mark out for the wrestler, the character, the man. At the same time, I thought it was a HUGE waste that Regal was down and out just as he seemed to be getting a push as a tag team member on RAW. Now, more than ever, I miss the things he brought to the show. I'm a mark, plain and simple. Weren't we all, at one point in time?
Guest Fallen Angel Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 How, pray, am I passing any opinion as fact? I don't know if you took personal offense to what I said, but all I meant was that all too often, people pass their opinions -- informed or no -- as law. That's not one of my sins, bub. Because the fact is, that happens all too often around here. Anyway, we're all marks, or we wouldn't watch. Being a smark does not mean you're not a mark.
