Did any raw matches ever end "during the break"?

I wish they would still do that .  The reason they stopped was they thought if a match went over 2 segements, people would switch to Nitro.  They have no reason not to now.  And also ending the show at the same time every week is studpid.  Have a match end after you go off the air, and you give people a reason to watch next week.

As for the question, I remeber about 6-7 years ago, in the USWA, they went to a commercial and a match was over when they came back.  I don't remember if it was Lance Russel or Dave Brown, but the announcer said;

"We've told you for 30 years if a match ended during the break, out tape machines were rolling and you'd dee the finish, but our tape machine broke, ad we can't show it."

That was funny

That would piss too many people off.  It could spike the ratings up high one but that isn't comething that can be done everyweek.

If you did that, it would have to be a big time match. I wouldn't mind it if it is a one time thing only.

WCW did it on PPV, although it was an accident.  Then they showed what got cut off on Nitro the next night.  I think the ratings were somewhat improved for that Nitro.

That PPV was Halloween Havoc '98. I think that was one of the last times WCW beat the WWF in the ratings when they had to show the entire Goldberg/DDP match. They had some weird excuse for not showing the Warrior/Hogan 2 match.

Right.  It would only be done once in a while.  I just think the fact the show goes off the air with a conclusion every week hurt's it's credibility.

I agree that it probaly would piss off a lot of people, because they have been trained to expect a conclusion.  Watts used to end his shows in the middle of the match, and it was more of a "damn I want to see how the match ends" anger than a "damn I'm not watching this next week" anger.

Didn't Nitro air a showdown between Hogan and Piper because the PPV ended before they could finish their bit?

No, they did it for ratings.

Probably didn't work did it?

It probably did work since WCW was hot at the time. Piper & Hogan wrestled one-on-one 3 times (Starrcade '96, Superbrawl VII & Halloween Havoc '97) during that hot period.

I thought this was a little later in WCW's life after they were getting their asses kicked by Raw.  Sorry.
