Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Figured since I hadn't seen this posted, I'd put it up. Axl previews Chinese Democracy tracks in Vegas Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose wandered into the Crazy Horse Too in Las Vegas Wednesday morning (July 16) and treated the nearly empty strip club to a preview of tracks from his band's long-delayed Chinese Democracy album. In addition to blasting new cuts over the club's PA system, Rose also visited the VIP room, ordered champagne and signed autographs, according to an employee. ... I also read that he was on the local news in Vegas and said he plans on releasing something within the next 3 months. Anybody believe that? LOL.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 23, 2003 WHOO! I feel good for Axl. Sherry, Honey and Val must have been the closest to titites Axl been to in YEARS.
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Hey give Axl a little credit.........he may have turned into a friggin weirdo, but I bet he still "pimps like a muhfucka"--------if you weeeeeeeelllllll
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Axl being called a Nerd brings a smile upon my fucking face.
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Although I was in Philly when Axl decided to no show last December, ,which is basically the equivalent of spitting in my face, he has never let me down when it comes to music. I fully believe this album will surpass all expectations, and might even be good enough to replace "Appetite" in most people's minds as the best Guns album. I just felt like getting that off my chest, lol, thanks for reading.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Idiot. It's not GNR on that Album. You WON'T get a damn thing out of this album. We waited 4 years for St. Anger and look what we got? Chinese Democracy has been on the god damn shelf for 13 years It seems...
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted July 23, 2003 You waited for St. Anger, and I'm the idiot? Wow, your opinion just became completely worthless in my eyes. And it is GNR on the album, a new and improved GNR. The best songs they had on the old albums, Rocket Queen, Estranged, November Rain, Don;t Damn Me, and My Michelle, were all written by Axl Rose. It was his voice and mostly his words that made GNR what it was. He is keeping the name alive by replacing the old guys with superior musicians, and what will be a superior album. I'll be happy when the doubters such as yourself are proven wrong.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 23, 2003 *I* didn't wait for the album...The General Public... The longer a Album is delayed...the worst it will be...with OUTSTANDING exceptions to the rule
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted July 23, 2003 The longer a Album is delayed...the worst it will be...with OUTSTANDING exceptions to the rule This will be an exception. The only thing I think might be wrong with it, is Axl's had these songs recorded for a while, and he keeps redoing parts until he thinks it is perfect. He might be squeezing the soul out of the songs.......or they just might end up fantastic. I'll vote for the latter.

Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I'll buy the album. I saw Guns N Roses tour with CKY and Mix Master Mike and it was probably the best show I saw all year last year. Plus Buckethead and Brain are more than acceptable replacements in the band. I don't know if they're sticking around with the band, but they were awesome when they did play. I think Buckethead is even better than Slash.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I'll buy the album and I bet it will be great. Sure people will shit all over it...but of the three songs I've heard from the new band I like them all. The Blues is a great song, Madagascar has some nice moments (I like it least out of the three) and Chinese Democracy absolutely rocked live. I have no doubt in the music writing ability of Axl or the talent of the group he's assembled. I watched them on that tour too and they sound live a great band. I anxiously await the release of this and also the first stuff from the Scott Weilend/ Slash/ Duff/ Matt Sorum band.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I'm more up for Velvet Revolver then Axl's GNR cover band. Maybe they won't take a decade for each album.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I read somewhere that Velvet Revolver was thinking of dropping either an album or DVD in October of just their live recording sessions of stuff they worked on to tide people over. I'm a HUGE Weilend fan (seeing him live was incredible...great frontman if ever there was one) so I'm super pumped he hooked up with my favorite band. Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Axl said that the stuff we've heard from Chinese Democracy so far are just the *FILLER* songs for the album. If that's the case, then the rest of the songs must be golden. I think when it's finally released it'll top the charts.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Well of course he's going to say that...he also said it was coming out years ago
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I read somewhere that Velvet Revolver was thinking of dropping either an album or DVD in October of just their live recording sessions of stuff they worked on to tide people over. I'm a HUGE Weilend fan (seeing him live was incredible...great frontman if ever there was one) so I'm super pumped he hooked up with my favorite band. They are putting out EP and a DVD of their first live show from a couple weeks back in time for Christmas. But those songs are already on Kazaa so you don't have to wait. I've got their version of It's So Easy and another original song called Slither. Neither of them are very good. I was very excited about this band too until actually hearing them. I was hoping to hear something a little like Guns and Roses and a little like STP. It seems like the STP side is drowning out the GnR side. Set Me Free was a very mediocre song. It would be better if they didn't stretch it out into 4 minutes plus. It had about 2 minutes worth of song there but they didn't seem to know when to stop. It's cool, but if I didn't know who it was before hand, I wouldn't even have listened to it all the way through. Slither sounds like a left over STP grunge song from the early 90's. The guitar work that made GnR so great is nowhere to be found on either song. It's So Easy was cool at first but Scott Weiland can NOT sing GnR songs. He doesn't have that voice. Sure, during the low verses it sounds really cool but when it's time for him to sing the soft bridges or time to scream out the chorus, it goes to total shit. They want to do some of their older material live, I really can't picture Weiland being able to sing most of it cause most of it is way too high pitched for him. Money was kind of a let down too. I thought they were gonna rock it out or something. Instead I like Pink Floyd's version better and I hate Pink Floyd. What I'm worried about with Chinese Democracy is that the album version may turn out to be so over-produced and electronic that even the songs that sound good live, will suck on CD. Take "Oh My God" from the End of Days soundtrack. On CD that song was friggin horrible. Nothing but electronic noise. Sounded so muddled and jumbled and noisy that you could hardly tell what the music was even doing. Live, with real musicians and instruments, the song was great. It rocked ass live. I'm worried the whole CD will be like that. Overall I think both bands will probably put out decent albums, but neither will be a GREAT album.

Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 24, 2003 What the fuck is up with all the St. Anger hate? Fair enough, the SONG leaves much to be desired, but the album is the most raw, hard-hitting and rocking album Metallica have released since The Black Album. Have you people actually bought the album, sat down and listened to it in depth? Understandably, it does not cater for everyone's taste, however it is far, far from being a bad album. Also, snippets from Axl's upcoming album 'Madagascar' and 'The Blues' are PHENOMINAL songs and were only a taste of what is to come, according to Axl Rose. I'll be here to either throw this all back in your faces, or take the humiliation in full force. M

Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 24, 2003 I'm actually looking more forward to the follow up to Chinese Democracy due out in the spring of 2010 Actually, Axl's excuse for taking so fucking long is the fact he has recorded another TWO albums worth of material so that, when Chinese Democracy is released, he can take his band on a huge world tour while still churning out the material. Good idea in theory, but touring and Axl rose don't necessarily, you know, work out. M
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 he premiered songs from chinese in las vegas like 2 years ago or something like that at a new years eve gig GNR has had 33 concerts promoting the "Chinese Democracy" album (34 if you count the MTV Video Music Awards performance) since 2001 Track listing for the album (some available on Kazaa): 1. Catcher In The Rye 2. This I Love 3. I.R.S. 4. Oklahoma 5. There Was A Time 6. Prostitute 7. Madagascar 8. Chinese Democracy 9. The Blues
Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 24, 2003 'Silk Worms' has also been previewed on these shows and rumoured to be on the album. The song itself is awesome until you get to the lyrics, which sound as though Axl didn't even bother trying.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Well, even if he has turned out that much material. Chinese Democracy is going to lose money. When you put how much he's been putting into it for as long as he has, there's no way he can break even.

I liked it so much that I actually gave their older stuff another try. The songs themselves are cool, it's only the production that hinders them. As far as I'm concerned, if Chinese Democracy is half as good as St Anger, my expectations will have been blown away. Here's a list of known, confirmed songs that the new GnR band has done and may or may not appear on Chinese Democracy. Oh My God Rhiad & the Bedouins (Formerly called "Oklahoma") Madagascar Chinese Democracy The Blues Silk Worms Prostitute Cock-a-roach Soup This I Love Suckerpunched No Love Remains Friend or Foe Zip it Something Always Hearts Always Get Killed This Life Closing In On You Catcher in the Rye IRS TWAT Strange Disease Never Had It Today, Tomorrow, Forever
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Been waiting for this damn album sine 1994, At this point I think it'll be an 8 disc box set by the time it's released. I think Axl is scared... no matter how good the album is, the critics are still going to tear it apart.

When you put how much he's been putting into it for as long as he has, there's no way he can break even. But if he is recording 3 or 4 albums worth of material and each sells, let's just assume $12 million apiece in sales, they will make a profit. For what it's worth, Rhiad and The Bedouins is a great song. Silk Worms leaves a lot to desired though.
